Mediterranean coast during non Mediterranean weather.

How many times have you people in the North envied us in the South for our weather? Well, time to take your revenge, or laugh if you prefer on how we react on our rare occasions of snow. There is an excuse though since the last cold wave we experienced here was the longest and toughest of (at least) the last decade. You might have already got an idea if you watched the videos of my last two posts so in this one I will focus on the pictures.

As I get up before 8am 6 days ago waiting for the first snow I see this thick cloud as an intro for the cold days to come:

The above is the view to the East and it's interesting to see the difference with the South West view which stays unaffected from the bad weather at this moment:

Half an hour later the clouds take over and you can see in the background that some areas already receive the first precipitation:

It goes too blurry for photos pretty fast in the next minutes and when it clears up a bit an hour later I am able to picture the rare view of the island on the other side with snowy bits on its slopes:

Odd but still no snow near me. A quarter later I am attacked by this blizzardish cloud that covers every thing crawling over the sea - that's very rare here if not really unique:

Strangely enough the South West remains untouched:

Weather goes too crazy for photos again and another 30 minutes later on the first chance of some clearer view I manage to picture the island again, this time in its whiter version though:

This last snow wave is past heading South:

Still the South West view remains the same for one more time:

An hour later the sun struggles to break those thick layers of clouds:

It manages to do so another 4 hours later hence the island is snow free this time:

The next day begins with an impressively rapid change from sunny to snowy. You can watch the timelapse I posted (2 posts ago) but here's a few pictures to get an idea about the speed of the phenomenon:

So basically in less than an hour the images went from beach house brochure to ski resort ad 🙂

The next day I went cycling for the first time ever in this outfit which says a lot about the wind chill🙂:

The other day I took my car to go shopping and found on the way piles of snow made from the guys who were clearing the roads that where like 3 meters high. I didn't have the chance to picture any due to traffic but here's the most Swiss version of me that I ever captured away from Switzerland:

It's all funny till you consider that we face one extreme after the other annually and if it keeps going like this we won't be just talking about climate change but climate collapse.

Take care!
