Muchísimas veces mi esposo me ha preguntado: "¿No es lo mismo postear una fotografía editada a una sin edición?"
¿Cuál creen ustedes que ha sido mi respuesta?
Many, many times my husband has asked me: "Isn't posting an edited photo the same as posting an unedited photo?
What do you think my answer has been?
Recuerdo la primera vez que usé un editor de fotografías... Lo usé para llevar mis tomas de color a blanco y negro... Ese proceso me pareció tan agradable que empecé a practicarlo con el resto de mis fotografías a color.
I remember the first time I used a photo editor.... I used it to take my shots from color to black and white.... I found that process so enjoyable that I started practicing it with the rest of my color photographs.
Poco a poco viendo el trabajo de otros fotógrafos de experiencia fui adquiriendo tips, viendo lo que hacían y como lo hacían...
He visto mi humilde evolución en la fotografía y edición de las mismas y eso me llena de satisfacción.
Little by little, watching the work of other experienced photographers, I was acquiring tips, seeing what they did and how they did it...
I have seen my humble evolution in photography and editing and that fills me with satisfaction.
En esta oportunidad con estos auto-retratos estaba probando un fondo diferente, un color entre ladrillo y terracota que no es habitual en mis capturas.
Quería hacer un contraste visual notorio, por lo que decidí usar prendas en tono amarillo mostaza y otros accesorios. Además estaba probando iluminación nueva y un lugar diferente para las fotografías.
Así que la experiencia fue algo nueva y eso me emocionaba mucho.
This time with these self-portraits I was trying a different background, a color between brick and terracotta that is not usual in my captures.
I wanted to make a noticeable visual contrast, so I decided to use mustard yellow clothes and other accessories. I was also trying out new lighting and a different location for the photographs.
So the experience was something new and I was very excited about that.
Finalmente llega la hora de la selección, y de 30 fotografías solo dejas 10 o menos en ocasiones jejeje.
Siento que la edición es primordial en un trabajo fotográfico, pues en mi experiencia y opinión, no se trata de adulterar la imagen, sino más bien de enriquecer o resaltar visualmente aquello que ya está capturado.
Por lo general he notado que la luz que usamos al sacar las fotografías, absorbe los colores, tienden a dejarlos opacos, pálidos. Sin embargo con el proceso de edición puedes otorgar de nuevo el brillo e intensidad a los mismos.
Cada día que paso editando descubro cosas nuevas, herramientas tan útiles y admirar el resultado final es tan placentero.
De ahí que mi respuesta a mi esposo es:
Jamás es lo mismo, ni es el mismo resultado una fotografía cruda a una que pasa por un proceso de edición... Los resultados hablan por si mismos.
Editar fotografías es un arte, aparte de volverse en cierto modo terapéutico, pues aprendes a cultivar cualidades como la paciencia, para pasar varias horas allí jajajaja.
Aún me queda mucho por aprender, práctico la fotografía a nivel aficionado, sin embargo espero no estar muy lejos de alcanzar un nivel profesional en un futuro no lejano. ❤️📸

I feel that editing is essential in a photographic work, because in my experience and opinion, it is not about adulterating the image, but rather to enrich or visually highlight what is already captured.
In general I have noticed that the light we use when taking photographs, absorbs the colors, tends to leave them opaque, pale. However, with the editing process you can bring back the brightness and intensity to them.
Every day that I spend editing I discover new things, tools that are so useful and admiring the final result is so pleasurable.
Hence my answer to my husband is:
It is never the same, nor is the same result a raw photograph to one that goes through an editing process..... The results speak for themselves.
Editing photographs is an art, apart from becoming therapeutic in a way, because you learn to cultivate qualities such as patience, to spend several hours there hahahaha.
I still have a lot to learn, I practice photography at an amateur level, however I hope to not be too far away from reaching a professional level in the not too distant future. ❤️📸
