MATRIX
During my daytime visit, I met no one at the former Soviet military airfield in Brandenburg. During our joint excursion with @stepko and Hans Roufflair at night, it was much busier. Besides the numerous bats, we met a pilot who was looking for his MiG 19. We asked him if we could take a photo of him. He agreed immediately. The matrix surrounding him was not visible to the naked eye. But the camera picked it up.
Bei meinem Besuch am Tage traf ich auf dem ehmaligen sowjetischen Militärflugplatz in Brandenburg niemanden. Während unseres gemeinsamen Ausflugs mit @stepko und Hans Roufflair in der Nacht war dort viel mehr Betrieb. Neben den zahlreichen Fledermäusen trafen wir einen Piloten, der nach seiner MiG 19 suchte. Wir fragten ihn, ob wir ein Foto von ihm machen dürfen. Er willigte sofort ein. Mit bloßem Auge war die ihn umgebene Matrix nicht zu sehen. Die Kamera hat sie aber aufgenommen.

First I lit the matrix into the picture. I had cut letters into black cardboard with the laser and then fixed this template in front of the lens. I illuminated the stencil from behind with the green Convoy S2+. I then removed the stencil. Then I illuminated the pilot (Hans Roufflair) with the DIY Light Scanner, then blew some fog behind him and shone the Emisar D18 with green colour fliter behind him towards the camera. In the last step, I lit the hangar with the Emisar D18 without a filter.
Zuerst leuchtete ich die Matrix ins Bild. Ich hatte mit dem Laser Buchstaben in schwarze Pappe geschnitten, und diese Schablone dann vor dem Objektiv befestigt. Ich beleuchtete die Schablone von hinten mit der grünen Convoy S2+. Ich entfernte dann die Schablone. Dann beleuchtete ich den Piloten (Hans Roufflair) mit dem DIY Light Scanner, blies dann etwas Nebel hinter ihn und leuchtete mit der Emisar D18 mit grünem Farbfliter hinter ihm in Richtung Kamera. Im letzten Schrittt beleuchtete ich mit der Emisar D18 ohne Filter den Hangar.

The first time I tried it, the matrix was too dominant. So we repeated the picture. I reduced the brightness of the Convoy S2+ by one level and tried to light the centre of the stencil less so that not so many letters were visible on the model.
Beim ersten Versuch war mir die Matrix zu dominant. Wir haben das Bild also wiederholt. Ich reduzierte die Helligkeit der Convoy S2+ um eine Stufe und versuchte, die Mitte der Schablone weniger zu beleuchten damit nicht so viele Buchstaben auf dem Model zu sehen sind.

For the next picture, our model Hans put on a gas mask and looked through the half-open door of the hangar. Due to my expansive body measurements (I prefer the term stately), I did not fit through the rather narrow opening. So the well-proportioned @stepko shone into the hangar from outside with the Emisar D18 and green colour filter. Before that, he blew some side light into the scene. From the inside, I illuminated the hangar with the Emisar D4V2. After 15 seconds the picture was ready. Light painting doesn't always have to be complicated and time-consuming.
Für das nächste Bild setzte unser Modell Hans eine Gasmaske auf und blickte durch die halb geöffnete Tür des Hangars. Ob meiner ausladenden Körpermaße (ich bevorzuge den Begriff stattlich) passte ich nicht durch die recht enge Öffnung. Also leuchtete der wohl proportionierte @stepko von außen mit der Emisar D18 und grünem Farbfilter in den Hangar. Zuvor blies er etwas Neben in die Szene. Von innen beleuchtete ich den Hangar mit der Emisar D4V2. Nach 15 Sekunden war das Bild fertig. Lightpainting muss ja nicht immer aufwändig und langwierig sein.

After that we had a short break. Poor Hans had to serve as a model during the well-deserved break. But he was allowed to smoke this time. With his cigarette he painted light traces in the picture.
Danach machten wir eine kurze Pause. Der arme Hans musste aber auch in der wohlverdienten Pause als Model herhalten. Aber er durfte dieses Mal dabei rauchen. Mit seiner Zigarette malte er Lichtspuren ins Bild.

Finally, I took these two start trails. In the second picture I had illuminated the hangar with the Emisar D4V2. These, and of course the other pictures, were each taken in a single exposure.
Zum Schluss nahm ich dann noch diese beiden Starttrails auf. Im zweiten Bild hatte ich den Hangar mit der Emisar D4V2 ausgeleuchtet. Diese, und natürlich auch die anderen Bilder sind in jeweils einer einzelnen Belichtung entstanden.
