Probably the most photographed motif on the island of Rügen
... and this despite the fact that the pier can hardly be captured symmetrically and with a reasonable image composition on the sensor, or even on film. Somehow it's all crooked. Anyway, we spent our summer holiday on the island of Rügen a few years ago, so the thing has to be photographed. Those who know me know that my camera doesn't work in daylight. It probably once belonged to a vampire or something. So I went to Sellin at blue hour.
... und das, obwohl sich die Seebrücke kaum symmetrisch und mit vernünftigem Bildaufbau auf den Sensor, oder auch den Film bannen lässt. Irgendwie ist das Alles schief. Na egal, nun verbrachten wir unseren Sommerurlaub vor einigen Jahren auf der Insel Rügen, dann muss das Ding auch fotografiert werden. Wer mich kennt, weiß dass bei Tageslicht meine Kamera nicht funktioniert. Wahrscheinlich hat die mal einem Vampir gehört, oder so. Also bin ich zur blauen Stunde nach Sellin gefahren.
It was high summer. Even at this late hour, there were still a lot of people on the pier. Especially the pub on the pier was still busy. If you are ever in the area, however, you should give this restaurant a wide berth. The quality of the cuisine is completely emancipated from the prices, at least that was the case a few years ago when we, like the other tourists, absolutely had to stop there. You can sit outside. However, this is more than annoying because people are constantly walking past who want to go further forward onto the pier.
Es war Hochsommer. Es tummelten sich auch zu der späten Stunde noch sehr viele Menschen an und auf der Seebrücke. Vor Allem die Schankwirtschaft auf der Seebrücke war noch gut frequentiert. Wer mal in der Nähe ist, sollte allerdings lieber einen großen Bogen um dieses Restaurant machen. Die Qualität der Küche ist völlig emanzipiert von den Preisen, jedenfalls war das vor einigen Jahren so, als wir wie die anderen Touris unbedingt dort einkehren mussten. Man kann draußen sitzen. Das ist allerdings mehr als nervig weil permanent Leute vorbei laufen, die weiter nach vorne auf die Seebrücke wollen.
First I took some shots from the top of the cliff. Unfortunately I didn't have the Camera Rotation Tool with me. So the only option was to zoom in during the exposure. But better than no kinetic photography at all.
Zuerst machte ich einige Aufnahmen oben von der Steilküste. Leider hatte ich das Camera Rotation Tool nicht dabei. Also blieb nur die Variante während der Belichtung zu zoomen. Aber besser als gar keine kinetische Fotografie.
The traces of light on the right of the picture are from the lift that takes you down the cliff at an angle and, above all, back up again. This is very comfortable for older people like me.
Die Lichtspuren rechts im Bild stammen von dem Fahrstuhl, mit dem man schräg die Steilküste runter, und vor Allem wieder hoch fahren kann. Für ältere Menschen wie mich ist das sehr komfortabel.
Then I walked downstairs and set up the camera. Again, I played with the zoom a bit.
Danach bin ich dann nach unten gelaufen und stellte die Kamera auf. Auch hier habe ich dann wieder etwas am Zoom gespielt.
And because I was in such a terribly romantic mood, I took a photo of the sailboat at the end. And as the law of maximum mess dictates, the lift's operating time was over just as I was about to go back up with the miracle of technology. Thank you Merkel.
Und weil ich gerade in so einer fürchterlich romantischen Stimmung war habe ich zum Schluss noch ein Foto vom Segelboot gemacht. Und wie es das Gesetz der maximalen Sauerei nunmal vorsieht, war die Betriebszeit des Fahrstuhls gerade in dem Moment beendet als ich mit dem Wunderwerk der Technik wieder nach oben fahren wollte. Unfortunately, it will be a few months before I can see the sea again. Until then, I longingly enjoy the pictures that are still slumbering on my hard drive.
Leider dauert es noch einige Monate, bis ich wieder das Meer sehen kann. Bis dahin erfreue ich mich sehnsüchtig an den Bildern, die noch auf meiner Festplatte schlummern.
