LIGHTPAINTING IN THE RAIN
Good morning community. I've already had bad withdrawal symptoms. The last time I waved the torches around in the dark was several weeks ago. Either it was pouring rain, it was storming, it was raining or it was storming and raining. I could have done light painting at home in the warm room, or rather in the kitchen, but I didn't feel like it. I wanted to do "real" light painting outside.
Guten Morgen Community. Ich hatte schon schlimme Entzugserscheinungen. Das letzte Mal hatte ich vor mehreren Wochen mit den Taschenlampen in der Dunkelheit rumgefuchtelt. Entweder es regnete in Strömen, es war Sturm, es regnete oder es stürmte und regnete. Ich hätte zu Hause in der warmen Stube, oder besser gesagt in der Küche, Lightpainting machen können, aber dazu hatte ich keine Lust. Ich wollte draußen "richtiges" Lightpainting machen.

So together with @stepko I went to the pyramid one more time. It was raining when we left Berlin. Fortunately, it rained two drops per minute less at the pyramid than in Berlin. Light painting in the rain is somehow not quite as cool. I couldn't realise some of my ideas because the tools couldn't handle water or because the raindrops on the prisms would have spoiled the picture. And cleaning the water spots off the prisms later is not a pleasant job either. So the only way was "simple" light painting with robust tools.
For the picture above, I painted fire into the three trenches in front of the pyramid. This is not real fire. Real fire usually doesn't look like fire in the photo. Usually the proportion of blue light is too high. I used a bundle of glass fibres for this. Then I painted @stepko with the wet glass fibres, which was a pleasant refreshment for him. 🤣 In the last step I illuminated the pyramid.
Also fuhr ich gemeinsam mit @stepko ein weiteres Mal zur Pyramide. Als wir in Berlin losfuhren regnete es. Zum Glück regnete es dann an der Pyramide dann zwei Tropfen pro Minute weniger als in Berlin. Lightpainting im Regen ist irgendwie nicht ganz so cool. Einige Idee konnte ich nicht umsetzen weil die Tools kein Wasser vertragen oder weil die Regentropfen auf den Prismen das Bild versaut hätten. Und die Prismen dann später wieder von den Wasserflecken befreien ist auch keine angenehme Arbeit. Also ging nur "einfaches" Lightpainting mit robusten Tools.
Für das Bild oben habe ich in die drei Gräben vor der Pyramide Feuer gemalt. Das ist kein echtes Feuer. Echtes Feuer sieht im Foto meist gar nicht aus wie Feuer. Meist ist der Anteil blauen Lichts zu hoch. Ich hab ein Bündel Glasfasern dafür benutzt. Dann hab ich @stepko mit den nassen Glasfasern bemalt, das war für ihn eine angenehme Erfrischung. 🤣 Im letzten Schritt habe ich dann die Pyramide beleuchtet.

@stepko hatte sich eine Pause verdient. Während er rauchte machte ich "schnell" ein Selfie vor der Pyramide.

At the first attempt, my head covered the window. I did not like that. Besides, the whole picture was too dark. On the second attempt, I let the camera expose further after illuminating the pyramid so that the sky would be brighter.
Beim ersten Versuche verdeckte mein Kopf das Fenster. Das gefiel mir nicht. Außerdem war das ganze Bild zu dunkel. Beim zweiten Versuch hab ich die Kamera nach dem Beleuchten der Pyramide weiter belichten lassen damit der Himmel heller wird.
I took this picture on my last visit under the full moon. It wasn't raining then, but we were also very limited by the bright moonlight. There is always something. Tonight we're off on our next adventure. I hope my jacket will have dried by then.
Dieses Bild habe ich beim letzten Besuch bei Vollmond aufgenommen. Da hat es zwar nicht geregnet, aber durch das helle Mondlicht waren wir damals auch sehr eingeschränkt. Irgendwas ist ja immer. Heute Abend stürzen wir uns dann ins nächste Abenteuer. Ich hoffe, meine Jacke ist bis dahin wieder getrocknet.
