Thanksgiving
Canadian Thanksgiving is this coming Monday, and the weather looks okay here, even though it's quite windy due to the hurricane. We haven’t lost power recently, for which I’m very grateful, but I feel sorry for the areas that have been damaged by the storm.
I think not everyone gets a day off on holidays. Some people still have to work, some don’t have safe family environments, others are dealing with financial struggles, and more. Nowadays, holidays aren’t always enjoyable for everyone, which is a serious social issue. We also don’t have a special holiday planned because my husband usually works on holidays, and I sometimes have to work too.
Despite this, we deeply appreciate nature and the hard work of farmers. I love going to our local farm market as much as possible. Their vegetables and products are always of excellent quality.
This farm market is close to our home, and their free-range chickens are always healthy and beautiful. We absolutely love their eggs. While their egg prices have risen quite a bit compared to a few years ago, we still like to buy them from time to time.
This is a cranberry sauce from the market. I love the handwritten sticker on the jar, and the cloth on the lid gives it a charming, vintage look.
We picked up their delicious eggs, cranberry sauce, potatoes, and fresh-looking green peppers. I know it’s easier to get everything from the supermarket, but visiting this peaceful market is always worth it. I hope their farm animals stay warm and safe in the barn this winter. 感謝祭
カナダの感謝祭は今度の月曜日です。このあたり一帯は穏やかな天候が続いています。ハリケーンの影響か、このところ強風が続いていましたが、今は落ち着いています。停電にもならなかったのでありがたいです。そんな中、大雨の被害にあわれた方もいらっしゃるので大変だと思います。
近年は、必ずしもすべての人が祝日に休めるわけではないと思います。仕事がある人もいますし、家族関係の問題があって集まりがない方もいるでしょうし、経済的な問題など深刻な状況を抱えていらっしゃる方もいるでしょう…。私の主人も祝日は仕事のことが多いので、感謝祭も休みではありません。私も週末に仕事のことがよくあります。
そんなわけで、感謝祭は自然や一生懸命働いてくださっている農家の方たちに深く感謝する日だと思っています。日頃から地元の農場マーケットにできるだけ足を運ぶようにしています。マーケットの野菜や商品はいつも高品質です。
この農場マーケットは家から一番近いところにあります。フリーレンジの鳥たちはいつも健康的で美しいです。私たちは彼らの卵のファンです。卵の価格は数年前に比べるとかなり上がりましたが、それでもやはりここの卵がおいしいので定期的に購入しています。
このクランベリーソースもマーケットで購入しました。手書きのラベルがいい感じです。蓋の上にかぶせてある布も
昔ながらのジャムの雰囲気が出ていていいですね。
今回はおいしい卵、クランベリーソース、量り売りのじゃがいもと新鮮な見た目のピーマンを買いました。ぜんぶまとめてスーパーから買うこともできますし、その方が簡単だとも思うのですが、やっぱり平和な雰囲気のする農場マーケットから購入することに意味があるような気がするのです。ここの農場の動物たちが、厳しい冬をあったかく乗り越えられますように。ハッピー感謝祭！
