Sunset in Cumberland Nature Reserve.

As mentioned in a post earlier this week, Arriving at Cumberland Nature Reserve, we recently slipped away for a short weekend break at the Cumberland Nature Reserve.

In today's post, I want to share the amazing sunset we experienced while relaxing in the reserve.

Normally, my least favorite time of the day is at the end of the day when the sun starts setting on the horizon. Don't get me wrong...I love sunsets. But on a normal day, not being out in nature, and having no time to admire the sunset (in nature), my mind starts wondering, thinking about stuff that still needs to get done and the time that is running out...lol.

But during that weekend, it was different. We were out in nature, one of our favorite places to be...

One of our favorite places? Yes, at the ocean is the other favorite place. Being at the ocean, being away from the city would also be the first choice at the ocean. But, even still being in the city, you can still find some nice, quiet beaches where you can just enjoy nature.

Anyhow, this time was out in the bush...

And even though I was in and around the camp where we stayed while in the reserve, the atmosphere was peaceful, with zero sound except for the beautiful sounds of nature (which is normally utter silence with the just the chirping of a bird every now and then). Later in the evening, we did hear the call of jackal though...

Okay, I'm getting carried away...let's get back to the sunset.

Getting ready to capture some images of the sunset, I started walking around early and got some nice shots of the area while the sun was still relatively high.

We were lucky in the sense that we were the only people in the camp for the entire weekend. So, we had the whole place to ourselves!

In the first photo, I was standing in the outside entertainment area of one of the units on the outskirts of the camp, admiring the view. You can see the braai (barbeque) area in the bottom-right area of the photo.

I could hear the roaring sounds of the rapids in the river far down below me.

Still standing at the same unit, just moving to the oppisite side, it was time for the sun to say good night...

I took a short walk outside of the camp, capturing the colors of last light of day over a beautiful African landscape...

I walked back into the camp and noticed this bird, creating a beatiful scene, showing it's silhouette against the sunset in the background. I slowly moved closer and closer and kept on shooting...

We enjoyed our dinner outside in the evening and just remained outside until late, enjoying the quiet, tranquil atmopshere of nature around us!

Just before we went back inside, I decided to capture some detail even after dark...

And with that we come to the end of today's post.

Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
