Richtig gelesen vor dem ersten Sprung, ich habe die Anfänger in einem Springreiter Turnier fotografiert. Die Herausforderungen im Parcours sind vielfältig und erfordern eine gute Strategie und Taktik. Dramatische Momente wie Stürze oder Comebacks gehören zum Springreiten dazu und machen die emotionale Achterbahnfahrt komplett. Das Springreiten ist jedoch nicht ohne Risiko. Stürze können passieren und vermeintliche Favoriten scheitern manchmal an einer schwierigen Hinderniskombination oder einem Zeitfehler. Doch wer einmal einen dramatischen Moment miterlebt hat, sei es ein Sturz oder ein überraschender Codebacksieg, wird die Emotionen nie vergessen. Gerade bei den Anfängen ist dieses Risiko doch sehr hoch, dass ein Pferd den Sprung verweigert und den Reiter ab schmeißt oder er gar plötzlich auf dem Hals des Pferdes sitzt. Dieser Moment ist für mich, mit der Kamera, die spannen Momente. Aber auch den Stolz der Reiter zu sehen, wenn sie das Hindernis geschafft haben. Doch trotz des Risikos bleibt das Springreiten eine der faszinierendsten Sportarten überhaupt. Es erfordert nicht nur viel Geschick und Können, sondern auch eine enge Bindung zwischen Reiter und Pferd. Nur wenn beide perfekt harmonieren, können sie die schwierigen Parcours meistern. Und genau diese Harmonie ist es, die mich als Fotograf immer wieder aufs Neue begeistert. Wenn ich durch den Sucher meiner Kamera blicke und sehe, wie sich Mensch und Tier zu einer Einheit verschmelzen, dann weiß ich: Das ist der Moment für ein besonderes Foto.

This moment is for me, with the camera, the tense moments. But also to see the pride of the riders when they have made the obstacle. But despite the risk, show jumping remains one of the most fascinating sports of all. It requires not only a lot of skill and ability, but also a close bond between rider and horse. Only when both are in perfect harmony can they master the difficult courses. And it is precisely this harmony that never ceases to excite me as a photographer. When I look through the viewfinder of my camera and see how man and animal merge into one, then I know: this is the moment for a special photo.

Der Nervenkitzel vor dem ersten Sprung ist wohl einer der intensivsten Momente für jeden Springreiter oder auch dem Zuschauer. Wir dürfen nicht vergessen diese Reiter oder auch Pferde fangen mit dem Springreiten erst an. So ist die Frage, Einsteiger-Glück oder Reiter-Pech? In diesem Moment zählt nur eins, der Wille zu gewinnen und das Vertrauen in das eigene Können. Doch selbst erfahrene Reiter müssen sich jedes Mal aufs Neue überwinden, wenn sie zum ersten Mal den Parcours betreten. Das Adrenalin pumpt durch den Körper und die Konzentration ist auf höchstem Level. Es gibt keinen Raum für Zweifel oder Unsicherheit, nur pure Entschlossenheit treibt einen an. Dabei wird alles ausgeblendet, das Zuschauer da sind oder das ich es mit der Kamera alles festhalte, ist einfach nicht mehr vorhanden. Der erste Sprung ist wie der Startschuss eines Rennens, Sie wollen alles geben, um schnell und sicher durch den Parcours zu kommen. Bei dem zweiten Bild sieht man, wie die Reiterin das Pferd wieder, nach dem Verweigern und Scheuen, einfängt und es noch einmal versucht. Ich liebe diesen Moment im Bild fest zuhalten.
The thrill before the first jump is probably one of the most intense moments for any show jumper or spectator. We must not forget that these riders or horses are just starting out in show jumping. So the question is, beginner's luck or rider's luck? At this moment only one thing counts, the will to win and the confidence in one's own ability. But even experienced riders have to overcome themselves every time they enter the course for the first time. Adrenaline pumps through the body and concentration is at its highest level. There is no room for doubt or uncertainty, only pure determination drives you on. Everything fades out, the spectators are there or that I capture it all with the camera, is simply no longer present. The first jump is like the starting gun of a race, you want to give everything to get through the course quickly and safely. In the second picture you see how the rider catches the horse again, after refusing and shying, and tries again. I love to capture this moment in the picture.

Auch wenn es Anfänger sind, darf man nicht vergessen wir sind bei einem Turnier. Den Kampf um den Sieg ist der Höhepunkt eines jeden Springreitturniers. Hier treffen sich die Reiterinnen oder auch Reiter und mit ihren Pferde aufeinander, um in einem finalen Durchgang den Sieger zu ermitteln. Die Zuschauer halten den Atem an, wenn die ersten Reiter den Parcours betreten und sich dem ersten Hindernis nähern. Jeder Fehler kann Punkte kosten oder das Aus bedeuten und somit den Traum vom Sieg zerstören. Doch wer es schafft, fehlerfrei durch den Parcours zu kommen, hat noch lange nicht gewonnen. Denn im Stechen geht es darum, wer am schnellsten und fehlerfrei durch einen verkürzten Parcours kommt.

Ich möchte eines klarstellen, mit den Fotos mache ich mich nicht über die Reiter lustig. Ganz im Gegenteil, ich habe den großen Respekt vor diesen Reiterinnen und Reiter, wie sie diese Situation meistern. Ich persönlich wäre heruntergefallen, wie ein nasser Sack. Es ist bewundernswert, wie die Reiter trotz der widrigen Umstände ihre Pferde unter Kontrolle halten und sich selbst in Sicherheit bringen können. Im Gegenteil, ich finde es wichtig, diese Bilder auch mit einem Augenzwinkern zu betrachten und damit den Mut der Sportlerinnen und Sportler noch mehr herauszustellen. Denn wer sich in solche Extremsituationen begibt, verdient unseren und meinen tiefsten Respekt. Also lasst uns gemeinsam über die kuriosen Momente im Pferdesport staunen und gleichzeitig unsere Bewunderung für die Athletinnen und Athleten ausdrücken!

Personally, I would have fallen off like a wet sack. It is admirable how the riders are able to keep their horses under control and keep themselves safe despite the adverse conditions. It takes years of experience and intensive training to master such situations. But still, I can't help but smile at some of the photos. It's just a human reaction to unusual and funny situations. But that in no way means that I want to belittle the performance of the riders. On the contrary, I think it's important to look at these pictures with a wink of the eye as well and thus highlight the courage of the athletes even more. Because those who put themselves in such extreme situations deserve our and my deepest respect. So let's marvel together at the curious moments in equestrian sport and at the same time express our admiration for the athletes!

And the beauty of it is, they are not alone on this journey. Behind them are parents, coaches and friends, people who believe in them and will help them reach their full potential. Das Springreitturnier war eine echte emotionale Achterbahnfahrt! Von der ersten Sekunde an waren die Zuschauer gebannt von den atemberaubenden Sprüngen und dem Nervenkitzel, der in der Luft lag. Für einige Einsteiger war das Turnier ein wahrer Glücksmoment, während andere Reiter mit Pech zu kämpfen hatten.
