Milkyway shot with shooting stars.
Sorry I was out for a short while. A quick 12-day research trip to South Africa was a welcome distraction from this world that seems to keep me busy with all sorts of things. I wish for a much more predictable life, maybe fewer adventures to keep me sane. Anyhow internet was a shit show so now I am back and all the data is in backup and I can process the images and video. I only had the chance for two night-shots but I am ready to share some with you now.
Tut mir leid, dass ich kurz weg war. Eine kurze 12-tägige Forschungsreise nach Südafrika war eine willkommene Ablenkung von dieser verrückten Welt. Wie auch immer, das Internet war eine Desaster, legal nun bin ich zurück und alle Daten sind im Backup und ich kann die Bilder und Videos verarbeiten. Ich hatte leider nur zwei Gelegenheiten für Nachtaufnahmen, aber nun kann ich, einige davonmit euch zu teilen.
Two wishes
Well, this is nice this year I seem to be lucky with the meteors. After a quick test shot of the Milkyway, I asked a friend if she and her son would fancy a quick Milkyway shot of them. This was a quick easy task since the camera was already set up next to our Airbnb looking into the sky. I took 3 different shots of them and during the last one, I ask her son to raise the flashlight into the sky. It did not give me a cool beam but that shot then shows two shooting stars during that 30 seconds exposure time.
Dieses Jahr hatte ich echt viel Glück mit den Sternschnuppen. Nach einer kurzen Testaufnahme der Milkyway fragte ich eine Freundin, ob sie und ihr Sohn Lust auf eine schnelle Milkyway-Aufnahme von ihnen hätten. Das war einfach, da die Kamera bereits neben unserem Airbnb mit Blick in den Himmel aufgestellt war. Ich hatte schon 3 Aufnahmen von ihnen gemacht und während der letzten bat ich ihren Sohn, die Taschenlampe in den Himmel zu heben. Es ergab keinen coolen Lichtstrahl, aber während der Aufnahme sind dann gleich zwei Sternschnuppen runtergekommen.
What was the setup?
The images you see are 30 seconds-long single exposure time photographs. The camera was set to ISO 2000 and the Laowa 12mm Zero D F2.8 Lens was set to F2.8.
Alle Nachtaufnahmen hier sind einzel Aufnahmen 30 Sekunden Belichtungszeit. Die Kamera war auf ISO 2000 und das Laowa 12mm Zero D F2.8 Objektiv war auf F2.8.

I got to stay in the hut on the right with my friend. On the right-hand side of the image, you also see a dam. That's where I placed the camera because of the cool trees that provided beautiful silhouettes against the night sky. Behind that is a waterhole to attract game to watch for the sunset. Super cool!

Mit meinem Freund übernachtete ich in der Hütte rechts. Auf der rechten Seite des Bildes seht Ihr auch den Damm wo ich die Kamera platzierte. Dortt standen die schönen Bäume, die uns die Silhouetten gegen den Nachthimmel lieferten. Dahinter befindet sich ein Wasserloch, um Wild anzulocken, um den Sonnenuntergang zu beobachten. Super cool!

Little sunset impression | Side story
Funny enough, some Nyala's met for a sunset snack on that little island in the middle of the waterhole.
Lustigerweise trafen sich einige Nyalas zu einem Sonnenuntergangs-Snack auf dieser kleinen Insel in der Mitte des Wasserlochs.
First, the two ladies went to the island then the male said hello right next to us then went to join the two ladies on the island. See below.
Zuerst gingen die beiden Damen auf die Insel, dann sagte der Mann direkt neben uns hallo und ging dann zu den beiden Damen auf die Insel. Siehe unten.
