It is hard to visit this old building and not to take photographs. There are not many like it in the city, or even the state I live in, so every time I have to come to this place I always take some shots. The municipal Theatre is currently 118 years old. some renovations have been made while others remain untouched still. The first recommendation we receive once inside is not to use the flash as it damages the paint, and as you can see, the sealing is wonderful. So that makes harder to take pictures in here. The lighting is always a challenge. Here I share some of the shots I took during my visit.
Es difícil visitar este antiguo edificio y no tomar fotografías. No hay muchos como este en la ciudad, ni siquiera en el estado en el que vivo, así que cada vez que tengo que venir a este lugar siempre tomo algunas fotos. El Teatro municipal tiene actualmente 118 años. Se han realizado algunas renovaciones, mientras que otras permanecen intactas. La primera recomendación que recibimos una vez dentro es no usar el flash ya que daña la pintura, y como podéis ver el sellado es una maravilla. Eso hace que sea más difícil tomar fotos aquí. La iluminación es siempre un desafío. Aquí les comparto algunas de las fotos que tomé durante mi visita.

The outside of the building is quite simple and a combination of colonial times with those ancient Greek and Roman aspects of architecture with some 1900s details. I love old styles that are so adorned or baroque-ish. This facade is not that overloaded, but we can still appreciate some details like in the lamps outside. It is hard to complete with sky light even though we had a cloudy day, so i surrendered and tried to work along.
El exterior del edificio es bastante simple y una combinación de la época colonial con esos antiguos aspectos griegos y romanos de la arquitectura con algunos detalles del siglo XX. Me encantan los estilos antiguos que son tan adornados o barrocos. Esta fachada no está tan sobrecargada, pero aún podemos apreciar algunos detalles como en las lámparas del exterior. Es difícil completarlo con la luz del cielo a pesar de que tuvimos un día nublado, así que me rendí y traté de trabajar.

These shots had to be vertical as I tried to capture the entrance and lamps aligned with the environment. I love the golden details on the fence, and I wonder if those lamps are as old as the building itself.
Estas tomas tenían que ser verticales ya que traté de capturar la entrada y las lámparas alineadas con el entorno. Me encantan los detalles dorados de la cerca y me pregunto si esas lámparas son tan antiguas como el edificio mismo.
Even the stairs and railing are quite exquisite and adorned. I played a little with the line it creates and how it separates the photo in two. In the upper half you can see the reflection of a statue honoring one of the first actresses of our city.
Incluso las escaleras y la barandilla son bastante exquisitas y adornadas. Jugué un poco con la línea que crea y cómo separa la foto en dos. En la mitad superior se puede ver el reflejo de una estatua en honor a una de las primeras actrices de nuestra ciudad.
Nonetheless, from all the elements worth photographing in this place, the inside of the great hall are the greatest of them. Also, they are the hardest to photograph. Camaras always have a hard time with the lights here inside. The shows presented are ambience with special lights resulting on the mix of certain lightbulbs colors which also makes difficult to capture a certain tone. Even so I focus shapes and lines on the magnificent ceiling. The start of this room is of course the immense chandelier in the middle of the room. I have photographed it before, and is always magnificent although a little bit difficult because of its own light.
No obstante, de todos los elementos dignos de fotografiar en este lugar, el interior del gran salón es el más grande de ellos. Además, son los más difíciles de fotografiar. Las cámaras siempre lo pasan mal con las luces aquí adentro. Los espectáculos que se presentan son ambientes con luces especiales resultantes de la mezcla de ciertos colores de las bombillas lo que también dificulta captar un cierto tono. Aún así enfoco formas y líneas en el magnífico techo. El comienzo de esta sala es, por supuesto, la inmensa lámpara de araña en el centro de la sala. Lo he fotografiado antes, y siempre es magnífico aunque un poco difícil por su propia luz.
I like the big seal just about and in front of the curtains. Again it makes me think of colonial times. If it is an specific symbol to represent something, I don't know, but It does have an harp in the middle with lines coming out of it. I am guessing it does represent art so it fits the placed it was put above.
Me gusta la foca grande justo delante de las cortinas. Nuevamente me hace pensar en la época colonial. Si es un símbolo específico para representar algo, no lo sé, pero tiene un arpa en el medio con líneas que salen de él. Supongo que representa arte, por lo que encaja en el lugar en el que se colocó arriba.
Sadly, access to upper areas is restricted. On the railing you can notice some light equipment, so we can imagine they wat to prevent any harm to those elements. Everything included in those probably frescos has meaning pointing to art's history. The name of the great of theatre are immortalized there, guarded by cherubs and surrounded by flowers and gold. Definitely, it is a magical place to visit.
Lamentablemente, el acceso a las zonas superiores está restringido. En la barandilla se pueden notar algunos equipos livianos, por lo que podemos imaginar que servían para evitar cualquier daño a esos elementos. Todo lo incluido en esos frescos probablemente tiene un significado que apunta a la historia del arte. Allí se inmortalizan los nombres de los grandes del teatro, custodiados por querubines y rodeados de flores y oro. Definitivamente, es un lugar mágico para visitar.
