I clicked the "take photo" button ya'll!
.
are ya proud of me?!
I recently upgraded to an iPhone 13 Pro and the main motivating factor in doing so was the triple-camera. I haven't done much photography in a long time so I felt quite rusty during this session, but I had a lot of fun using the built-in ultra-wide lens. Of course, it is (southern) winter here in Tennessee, which means a muted mix of browns and greens — many plants have been slain by the mild frost (getting just below freezing most nights) yet others are resilient enough to carry on somehow. Most trees are devoid of leaves. The houses around here were mostly built in the 60s and 70s and there is quite a bit of variety in the layout and exterior due to the hills — each house needs to be fit snugly into the landscape.
I enjoy smartphone photography sessions as it gives me an excuse to actually get outside when it is cool and explore my surroundings — something I would otherwise likely not do in the same way. It helps me really look.
When I was skateboarding a lot in Fall 2019/Spring 2020, that made it even more fun. Some of you might remember the fiasco where my car got stolen and then I got it back? Long story. Well, my board was originally in the car and mysteriously vanished... was an amazing one too, old-school style Powell-Peralta Flight Deck designed by Canadian skater Andy Anderson. Well, I just noticed a new version of it with a color scheme that suits me (dark green) is coming soon in their shop, so I might have to grab that one and get back on the board! Though, my buddy Lucas is of the opinion I should grab a longboard which is better (and probably safer) for simple cruising around like I do.
Then again, there are all the newfangled electric skateboard-esque devices like the OneWheel that the kids are into these days. Bah! All skate hipsters look down on 'em from behind thick-rimmed glasses — and snapback caps. Besides, we tend to appreciate things more that require a lil'... elbow grease.
Anyway, hope you enjoy a few snaps from this first iPhone 13 session and get a taste of my good ol' southern neighborhood here in Old Hickory. Eventually, I'll have to get back into video content as I should be able to capture some pretty amazing quality on this here device. Farewell for now!
