September 23, 2020 is a day that will live in infamy
Permanently etched into memory
Words cannot do justice to that day
For justice was not done in any way
The Attorney General did render
Bullet abuses legal tender
The Guard and the law backed his play
The people, they had something to say
In the streets and in the square
Folks turned out from everywhere
Shocked, in disbelief
Injustice, without relief
Occupying army, festooned with weaponry
Couldn't suppress the anguished and angry
As darkness fell and the sun set low
The flames of discontent did grow
Spotlights and flashbangs rent the night
As chemical weapons put people to flight
Pursued and surrounded
Relentlessly hounded
As they tightened the noose
All hell broke loose
And gunfire filled the air
