Monochrome Farm Animal Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a couple more pictures from the recent fair that we went to but turned into black and white!

Monochrome Farm Animal Monday

The fair that we went to was definitely an awesome experience on so many levels. We got to enjoy the day looking at all kinds of different exhibits, from farm animals, to dogs, to various other animals. These types of things are a really good experience for my son because it exposes him to so many different things and also shows him that these things are an important part of life. I think that the vegan trend is likely related to people not being exposed to the way farming has made and improved our lives. Without animals to eat, humans wouldn't have existed that's for sure!

We got to see some gigantic fucking animals, let me tell you. These here are oxen and it's difficult to explain how big these mother fuckers are hahaha. They are easily 6 feet or higher at the hip and probably 4 thousand pounds or more! We could definitely see why people used them for pulling plows and things in the past. They are fucking solid muscle for sure! It was wild.

It was nice to flip some of the pictures to black and white! The cows were a lot of fun for us to see. I know a considerable amount of many farms are related to cows, they are such an important animal. They have so many uses when it comes to food, it's wild. We got to see all kinds of different breeds, ages and styles of cows which was pretty interesting. My son was very happy to be able to pet the ladies! I know that not all of the cows were very friendly but this one here was pretty nice and chill, so that was good to see. He spent a good 15 minutes hanging out and enjoying the young lady here. What was amazing to me was how quickly these things grow! This young lady here was only 9 months old yet she was the same size as my son when it comes to the shoulder. That's pretty nuts!

What we really enjoyed to see and found interesting was the number of different cow species that are out there. I know that there are all kinds of animals and that's a good thing however when it comes to farm animals like cows, it was quite surprising to me how many different types of cows there were! I guess it makes sense, because there are a similar number of types of chickens, maybe more.

What was interesting with the pictures and animals here was seeing how it was changed with a black and white version. I opted for the luminance version of the desaturated images here and I think that it ended up showing a good balance of the cows shades of darkness versus the rest of the background. I know that there are other animals and things that would be an important way to differentiate the various shades of black and white but for cows, it was pretty common between the different images! Only the white oxen really showed a different element to the picture. That's okay though, I like how removing the colors makes the pictures a different style that directs the attention of the viewer in other directions rather than focusing on the colors!
