Hello here photography lovers, I want to show you what was yesterday one of the oldest traditions of our city, The Procession of the Holy Trinity. It is one of the most deeply rooted celebrations in our city, two years since they were held as a result of the covid, and well, this Easter, we had the privilege of having such an event, and we did not want to let it go unnoticed.
Buenas por acá amantes de la fotografía, quiero mostrarles lo que fue ayer una de las tradiciones mas antiguas de nuestra ciudad, La Procesión de la Santísima Trinidad. Es una de las celebraciones de más arraigo en nuestra ciudad, hacia dos años que no se llevaban a cabo producto de la covid, y pues en esta semana Santa, tuvimos el privilegio de contar con tal acontecimiento, y no queríamos dejarlo pasar por alto.
The old colonial city of Trinidad on the southern coast of Cuba is very religious, both Santeria and Catholicism are worshiped here. The Good Friday Way of the Cross Procession is one of the most important annual events in the city.
La antigua ciudad colonial de Trinidad en la costa sur de Cuba es muy religiosa, tanto la Santeria como el catolicismo son adorados acá. El Camino de la Procesión de la Cruz del Viernes Santo es uno de los eventos anuales más importantes de la ciudad.
The procession begins from the Church of the Holy Trinity at 7:00 p.m. Hundreds of candlelit people join in, many singing prayers. The priest and the participants of the procession carry the Christ and the statue of the Virgin Mary. The crowd follows the sounds of music.
Local legend says that the procession route was designed to prevent pirates from looting, following roads marked with crosses.
La procesión comienza desde la Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad a las 19h. Cientos de personas con velas se unen, muchas de ellas cantan oraciones. El sacerdote y los participantes de la procesión llevan el Cristo y la estatua de la Virgen María. La multitud sigue los sonidos de la música.
La leyenda local dice que la ruta de la procesión fue diseñada para evitar que los piratas saquearan, siguiendo las carreteras marcadas con cruces.
It is believed that the first Holy Thursday procession took place on March 16, 1716, presided over by Bishop Fray Gerónimo Valdés, after the arrival in these lands of the image of Cristo de la Vera Cruz in 1713.
Se cree que la primera procesión de jueves santo salió el 16 de marzo de 1716 presidida por el obispo fray Gerónimo Valdés, luego de la llegada a estas tierras de la imagen del Cristo de la Vera Cruz en 1713.
An opportunity used by all its inhabitants to ask and pray for their loved ones and more in these post-pandemic moments, where the city of Trinidad and the Cuban people in general were severely hit.
Ocasión aprovechada por todos sus habitantes para pedir y orar por sus seres queridos y más en estos momentos post pandemia, donde la ciudad de Trinidad y el pueblo cubano en general fue duramente azotado.
