Hello HIVEs!
While experimenting with the light in my studio-turned-office, I often put vinyl on my old Thorens record player. I love to choose one of my LPs, put it on the turntable, run the carbon brush over the vinyl and hear the crackling sound of the needle hitting the groove, and then listen eagerly for the first sound of the track.
That evening, I had chosen a record by POLICE and it was the title "Message in the Bottle" that inspired me to do the following light painting.
Beim experimentieren mit dem Licht in meinem zum Studio umgebauten Büro, lege ich mir oft Vinyl auf meinen alten Thorens -Plattenspieler. Ich liebe es, eine von meinen LP's auszusuchen, auf den Plattenteller zu legen, mit der Carbon -Bürste über das Vinyl zu streichen und das knacken beim Aufsetzen der Nadel auf die Einlaufrille zu hören, um dann gespannt auf den ersten Ton der Tonspur zu lauschen. An diesem Abend hatte ich mir eine Scheibe von POLICE ausgesucht und es war der Titel "Message in the Bottle", der mich zu dem folgenden Lightpainting inspirierte.

The Set
Because we make a lot of things ourselves in our household, including liqueurs, I collect empty bottles whose design I find interesting to fill them with our homemade liqueurs later. So I took a bottle from my stash and draped it on an earthenware plate that I had previously attached to a tripod using a Manfrotto clamp. A few test photos were necessary to find out how I would stage the bottle with the help of the Thorfire torch.
Weil wir in unserem Haushalt sehr viel selbst herstellen, unter anderem Likör, sammele ich leere Flaschen, deren Design ich interessant finde, um sie später mit unseren Hausgemachten Likören zu füllen. Also nahm ich eine Flasche aus meinem Vorrat und drapierte sie auf einer Steingutplatte, die ich zuvor mit Hilfe einer Manfrotto-Klemme auf einem Stativ befestigt hatte. Ein paar Probefotos waren notwendig, um herauszufinden, wie ich die Flasche mit Hilfe der Thorfire -Taschenlampe in Szene setze.

Fazit
With relatively little effort, you can achieve extraordinary effects that attract a lot of attention when using this technique. Applications here would be, for example, greeting cards and pictures or posters with messages.
During a workshop at CreARTiv in Steinhagen, the following pictures were taken with different light shapers in front of the torch. Here, writing was once done in front of the camera (in the air). Another interesting technique is to write on a background like a wall or a curtain. Compared to working frontally, this has the advantage that you don't have to write in reverse.
Mit relativ wenig Aufwand kann man beim Einsatz dieser Technik außergewöhnliche Effekte erzielen, die eine hohe Aufmerksamkeit erregen. Anwendungen wären hier zum Beispiel Glückwunschkarten und Bilder oder Poster mit Botschaften.
Während eines Workshops bei CreARTiv in Steinhagen entstanden die folgenden Bilder mit verschiedenen Lichtformern vor der Taschenlampe. Hier wurde einmal in Front zur Kamera (in die Luft) geschrieben. Eine weitere interessante Technik ist es, auf einen Hintergrund, wie eine Wand oder einen Vorhang zu schreiben. Das hat gegenüber der frontalen Arbeitsweise den Vorteil, dass man nicht spiegelverkehrt schreiben muss.

Try it out together with your family or friends! It's a lot of fun and often brings surprising results. Print it out as a greeting card and create a unique piece of art.

What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
