Back At Cadwell

Wheelie

I love going Cadwell Park. The British Superbikes (BSB) is a great event, though it is so jammed with spectators. The action is intense, the riders must have nerves of steel, given the speeds they get up to. The one downside, is the crowds. Its not easy to move around, and get different view points for photography.

So I go to a lot of track days. Track days for spectators are free (I know, right. When does that ever happen these days?). There are very few spectators so its so easy to move round, select a good position, gets some shots and then move to another.

Admittedly, the races aren't quite as fast and frantic as BSB, but you still wouldn't catch me on a bike going at the speeds these amateurs do. I'm just happy taking photos and living with the vicarious thrills.

Winning?

Its a good day out, gives me a lot of panning practice, a lot of trying to see how how slow I can get the shutter speed to get the lovely wheel blur whilst keeping the bike and rider in focus. When I first started going to Cadwell I could quite easily go home with 1000's of images, most of which were only good for the bin. Nowadays its more like a couple of hundred and I don't bin as many.
