Today I want to tell you about my trip in Iceland, in august 2015.
We visited Hornstrandir peninsula, in the north-west of Iceland.
It is a wild region, with only a few tourists, only some Icelandic people coming here to stay alone.
We did a six days trekking on cliffs and hills, along paths near the ocean, sometimes through rivers and beaches, in the place where arctic foxes live.
In each valley you can find a family of arctic fox. They are very shy, but some of them came very close to us (it was impossible to touch them). They are curios, and they also are looking for some food, but we can't give them food, because of they should live a completely wild and naturale life, without any ads
by people.
The coat color is brown in summer, and white in winter, so they can blend in better with snow.
Favorite food is lemming, but they hunt also other preys and a very varied diet that includes mice, white hares, birds, eggs, as well as molluscs, sea urchins and even dead seals. The fox usually kills its prey in ambushes. If they have enough food during the summer, they prepare some supplies for the winter as well.
Here a curios fox observing the activities of us:

Some years ago I have organized an exhibition about my travel in Hornstrandir:
