Here are some photos taken last September of the entrance to our beautiful castle of Annecy , France
Classified as historical monuments, it was once the residence of the Dukes of Savoy, but now belongs to the city of Annecy which bought it in the 1950s for a symbolic sum to make it a Museum after its restoration.
We can see below its inner courtyard, and the beautiful buildings at the back and which form part of the enclosure are named "the Tower" and "Le Logis Perrière"
For the record, the tower is huge with 33 m high and 12 m wide and was used as a prison during the Revolution 😉
There are now permanent exhibitions on the themes of fine arts, archeology and natural history, as well as temporary exhibitions on contemporary art and animated cinema.
The most interesting remains the exterior of the building which has kept its authenticity, but as regards the interior, the rooms are indeed more like a museum and could disappoint castle lovers expecting to find an interior in line with the authenticity of its walls ....
It was just eight in the morning when, passing by its entrance as I was on my way to the old town , I noticed the sunrise which I was able to capture through the wide door. ....
I took advantage of this magnificent and lage opening in stone as a frame for the rising sun ...
The exhibition that was taking place at that time was announced on a giant picture adorning the frontispiece
The square is nicely landscaped to be able to take advantage of the cobbled square and admire the beautiful old building.
Being able to photograph at this magical hour of the day and without having people around made me feel privileged to live this moment in front of such a magnificent castle which dominates the old town 😊
