Today we celebrate the bright holiday of Easter. I am not convinced sure if this is the best place for my recipe post, but why not? Minimalism is a big effect with a minimum of tools used.... and my post is just about it. Hope you appreciate it.

Also, yesterday we were doing preparations: my wife baked a huge baking sheet of Easter cakes, and our babygirl helped to decorate them. Those cake are indispensable part of the Easter celebration; and another part is eggs, which are a symbol of the soul. We all took part in painting Easter eggs, our creations are certainly not as creative as the Faberge Eggs jewelry, but still we have something to brag about. In this post, I will share our technology.
А вчера мы к нему готовились - жена пекла огромный протвень пасхальных куличей, а дочь помогала их украшать. Праздничный кулич - непременная часть. И, конечно, яёца, которые есть символ души. Мы все поучаствовали в раскрашивании пасхальных яиц, наши творения конечно не настолько креативные как Яйца Фаберже, но все равно есть чем похвастать. В этом посте я поделюсь нашей технологией.

We will need: an enamel pan (which is not a pity to get a little dirty with paint), water, a little time, non-crooked hands, and threads. The most important thing is the threads, which is important: not any will do, but only those that are able to "shed".
Нам потребуются: эмалированная кастрюля (которую не жалко немного испачкать краской), вода, немного времени, не-кривые руки, и нитки. Самое главное - нитки, что важно: подойдут не любые, а только такие, которые способны "линять".
We have a large stock of "old editions", among which we have found in previous years those that are suitable ... that is, they molt in hot water, giving their color to the eggs.
У нас большой запас "старых изданий", среди которых мы за предыдущие годы нашли те, которые подходят... то есть линяют в горячей воде, отдавая свою окраску - яйцам.
Obviously, the threads can be combined in color, combining 2 or even 3 colors ... You need to wind the threads so that they stick and hold onto the egg, so that they hold on to each other. Before winding, I recommend to moisten the egg a bit with water - this will greatly simplify the winding process.
Очевидно, что нитки можно комбинировать по цвету, сочетая 2 или даже 3 цвета... Надо наматывать нитки так, чтобы они прилипли и удержались на яйце, чтобы они держались друг за друга. Перед намоткой яйцо лучше смочить водой - это намного упростит процесс намотки.
As you can see in this photo, here winding is done with two threads of different colors at once, in order to obtain more colorfulness and variety of colors.
Как вы видите на этом фото, здесь делается намотка сразу двумя нитками разного цвета, для получения большей красочности и разнообразия цвета.
Ok, the next step: carefully, trying not to beat them, put the eggs into a saucepan, and pour cold water on top, put on gas and heat for 15-20 minutes (boil 5-10 minutes more than you usually do for boiled eggs).
Ок, следующий шаг - аккуратно, чтобы не побить, укладываем яички в кастрюлю, и заливаем сверху холодной водой, ставим на газ и греем 20 минут (кипятим на 10 минут больше чем нужно обычно для вареных яиц).
Depending on the type of thread you have and the degree to which it is dyed/willingness to release its dye to the eggs at a hot temperature... you may get different results. By the way, you can not rely solely on threads, and add some other dye to boiling water, preferably not very intense. (For example, you can add a couple of tablespoons of onion peel). On the photo above is what we got (a few tablespoons of onion were added this time).
В зависимости от вида ваших ниток и степени их окрашенности / готовности отдать яйцам свою краску при горячей температуре... вы можете получить разные результаты. Кстати, можно не полагаться исключительно на нитки, и добавить в кипящую воду какой-нибудь другой краситель, лучше не очень интенсивный. Например, можно добавить пару ложек луковой шелухи.
By the way, did you know that onion peel is an excellent dye for eggs? It allows you to get extremely "whimsical" and natural-looking "marble" textures, something like the one in the photo above. (But thats a side-step).
Кстати, вы знаете, что луковая шелуха - отличный краситель для яиц? Она позволяет получать крайне "прихотливые" и естественно выглядящие "мраморные" текстуры, примерно вот такие как на фото выше.
Ok, back to our eggs. After we cooled them down in cold water, we took them out. Now we need to free them from the threads. We won't need these used threads any more - except maybe for design purposes?... I admit they look nice, like tangled seaweed on the shore... or the wig of a lost forest elf. )))
Oк, возвращаемся назад к нашим яйцам. Охладили их в холодной воде, вынули и далее необходимо освободить их от ниток. Нитки нам больше не понадобятся - ну разве что для дизайнерских целей... признаю, что они смотрятся достаточно красиво, как спутанные морские водоросли на берегу... или парик потерявшегося лесного эльфа. )))
The photo above clearly shows that the eggshell dyed differently from different threads: the green threads gave their color, providing an intense azure color, and the red threads gave a slightly pinkish tint, but at the same time covered the shell from staining with onion peel. In general, "isolation" of custom-made fragments from staining is also an excellent, proven way of applying images (in printing, this method is called "reversing").
На фото выше хорошо видно, что скорлупа окрасилась по-разному: зеленые нитки отдали свой цвет, обеспечив интенсивный лазоревый окрас, а красные нитки дали только слабо розоватый оттенок, но при этом закрыли скорлупу от прокрашивания луковой шелухой. Вообще, "изоляция" заказных фрагментов от прокрашивания - тоже отличный, проверенный способ нанесения изображений (в полиграфии этот метод называется "выворотка").

These two turned out in a shape of a cross, exactly as intended.
I could add many more pictures to the post... in total I took 200 captures during that session. In fact, it was such a pleasant meditative pastime that I couldn't stop. But still, I have to stop somewhere shaping this post. I have told everything you need to know about the technology, let me add a few more pictures, and that's it. Я мог бы добавить в пост еще много картинок... всего я сделал 200 фотографий. На самом деле это было такое приятное медитативное времяпрепровождение, что я не мог остановиться. Но все таки надо остановиться. Про технологию я все рассказал, разрешите мне добавить еще несколько картинок, и на этом все.
