Happy LPUD and Three Tune Tuesday Rolled Into One!

Happy LEO Power Up Day everyone, somehow half the month has already passed up by... I went ahead and powered up all the liquid LEO tokens I had today which was a total of 333.442. Not too bad of a power up, and I'm already close to my goal of 1,500 for this year, today my total staked tokens is now 1,423.

I think I'll push for 2,000 staked LEO before the year ends now. That will get me a couple more stake based curations which will be nice. Power up posts are never very long, so I always like to add something more to make them more interesting...

Today since it is LEO Power Up Day I decided to make my Three Tune Tuesday about bands with big cats in their name. A couple came to mind relatively quickly, and a couple others took some thinking. Today I can honestly say that there is something for everybody in this bunch of songs, except maybe for the very young crowd. I decided to start things off with a little band from England known as Def Leppard. It's definitely a big cat in the name, just not spelled properly. lol

Def Leppard

Theses guys are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 1976. The one story I remember best from this band is one from Joe Elliot the lead singer who joined the band in 1977. One day he got out of work late and had missed his bus and had to walk home. While walking he ran into one of the band members at the time Pete Willis, and from the chance meeting he auditioned and became the lead vocalist. He said he often thinks about that day and how his life would have been very different had he not missed his bus. Fate I suppose...

Their third album "Pyromania" became a world wide best seller featuring several chart topping hits, one of them being the song they are probably best known for, "Pour Some Sugar On Me":

John Cougar Mellencamp

John Cougar Mellencamp (sticking with the big cat theme) is an American singer and songwriter that was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. He rose to fame in the early 1980's with a series of hit records that made him a music legend. He's still writing music and performing to this day, although he looks quite a bit older now. Come to think of it I do too... lol. Here's my favorite of his songs, "Authority Song":

Pantera

Once again sticking with the big cat theme, Pantera formed in 1981 in Arlington, Texas. The band has been one of the most influential in heavy metal history as well as one of the most successful. Their fifth album "Cowboys From Hell" introduced groove metal which became popular in the 90's, the lead song from the album was "Cowboys From Hell" which I've included today. An interesting fact about the song is it was very nearly cut from the album as several band members felt it's sound wasn't heavy enough. It did make the cut in the end and has become one of their most popular songs. Here it is, and it is definitely heavy metal:

And a bonus, because they have cat in their name, it may not be a big cat but they sure look good...

The Pussycat Dolls

The origins of this band are actually very interesting. They started as a burlesque dance act back in 1995 featuring Christina Applegate (from Married With Children) with performers dressing in 1950's lingerie or pinup girl clothing. They evolved over the years picking up other well known members such as Christina Aguilera and Carmen Electra (Baywatch), who served as the primary vocalist.

In 2003 a recording contract was signed and the celebrity members all exited the group as their acting or personal recording careers didn't allow time to be part of a full time act. New members were recruited with Nicole Scherzinger as the lead vocalist and after many additions and exits the most well know lineup included Nicole Scherzinger, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta, Carmit Bachar, Melody Thornton and Ashley Roberts. In 2005 their album "PCD" was released quickly became multi-platinum with singles "Don't Cha" and "Buttons". Here's "Buttons" featuring Snoop Dog.

That will just about wrap up this LPUD and Three Tune Tuesday. If you don't already participate in #TTT, why not join in the fun and create your own post with three tunes that you enjoy? Just use either the #TTT or #threetunetuesday tags and it's not a bad idea to do a shoutout to @ablaze who started and continues to sponsor the weekly event.
