5 – Heathens: Aurora
En un cubículo en penumbras Aurora entona uno de sus éxitos más sonados: “Heathens”, con ella un grupo de bailarinas danzan un canto similar al de las sirenas. La cámara se acerca y aleja tratando, quizás, de seguir la nostalgia es la canción. El mensaje del edén y Eva resuenan por todos lados; un sacrificio que contempló el pecado y la desobediencia. La letra acentúa el término del “paganismo” en el mundo completo que nos rodea: todo nació de la manzana mordida y Eva, con un amor inocente, le terminó de dar vida. La atmósfera de encierro parece una metáfora de condena. ¿Libertad? Una retórica que la cantante apremia con vigor en sus líricas poéticas y vívidas.

In a darkened cubicle Aurora intones one of her most famous hits: "Heathens", with her a group of dancers dance a song similar to that of the sirens. The camera zooms in and out trying, perhaps, to follow the nostalgia of the song. The message of Eden and Eve echo throughout; a sacrifice that contemplated sin and disobedience. The lyrics accentuate the term of "paganism" in the whole world around us: everything was born from the bitten apple and Eve, with an innocent love, finished giving it life. The atmosphere of confinement seems a metaphor of condemnation. Freedom? A rhetoric that the singer urges with vigor in her poetic and vivid lyrics.

4 – Midnight Sky: Miley Cyrus
Se necesita más que irreverencia y astucia para lograr el impacto que ha logrado Miley Cyrus con sus canciones de empoderamiento. Este para mí ha sido uno de sus mejores Performances, y fue transmitido en vivo y directo en los MTV VMA 2020. Ya la canción había sonado con éxito meses atrás. Midnight Sky es una joya con ritmos retro y, en mi humilde apreciación, orientales, más precisamente japoneses. En el escenario de los VMA 2020 Cyrus mostró su sensualidad rebelde en colores cambiantes y, por supuesto, la sonada bola disco en la que batía su cintura como la fiera indomable que incluso está presente en esta canción. Hubo mucho derroche artístico en esta presentación, con una escenografía que es capaz de ponerte los pelos de punta.
It takes more than irreverence and guile to make the impact that Miley Cyrus has made with her empowering songs. This for me has been one of her best Performances, and it was broadcast live at the MTV VMA 2020. The song had already been played with success months before. Midnight Sky is a gem with retro rhythms and, in my humble appreciation, oriental, more precisely Japanese. On the stage of the VMA 2020 Cyrus showed her rebellious sensuality in changing colors and, of course, the resounding disco ball in which she beat her waist like the untamed beast that is even present in this song. There was a lot of artistic splurge in this presentation, with a scenery that is able to make your hair stand on end.
3 – Shivers: Ed Sheeran
El carismático Ed Sheeran prende la fiesta con un Performance sencillo pero con estilo, más enfocado a los instrumentos musicales y los colores. La canción personifica el amor vagabundo, irresistible, alocado… de esos que surgen a primera vista. Shivers está dentro de mis Playlist, pero al momento de despejar la mente me encanta ver esta producción que Sheeran brinda con su guitarra, ¡siempre anda con ella! O al menos en las ocasiones que lo he visto en algún evento especial. Notarás en el video que el color rojo predomina con algunos toques rústicos. La cámara nunca se detiene y cambia de planos a cada instante entre el baterista, guitarrista, los vocalistas y demás acompañantes de Ed… imposible no sentir escalofríos.
The charismatic Ed Sheeran gets the party started with a simple but stylish performance, more focused on musical instruments and colors. The song epitomizes wandering, irresistible, crazy love... the kind that comes at first sight. Shivers is on my playlist, but when it's time to clear my mind I love to see this production that Sheeran brings with his guitar, he's always with her! Or at least on the occasions I've seen him at a special event. You'll notice in the video that the color red predominates with some rustic touches. The camera never stops and changes shots at every moment between the drummer, guitarist, vocalists and Ed's other companions... impossible not to get chills.
2 – Blinding Lights – The Weeknd
Este es una de las mejores actuaciones que he visto de The Weeknd: una escenografía en la que se vislumbra la confinada ciudad de New York en pandemia. Este Performance fue el que abrió los MTV VMA 2020, un año en el que salieron muy buenas canciones a pesar de coronavirus. Las palabras para describir este espectáculo protagonizado por la canción “Blinding Lights” se quedan cortas. Los helicópteros y los fuegos artificiales, y los juegos de luces… todo encajó a la perfección. Además de la letra que es una pieza del arte musical, The Weeknd tiene cierto carisma, por muy raro que suene cuando su estilo es más bizarro.
Veo este Performance cada vez que deseo escribir algo de literatura rebelde, y quedo impresionado por la inspiración que llega a mis neuronas. La emoción es la misma desde el primer día en que vi este espectáculo fenomenal.
This is one of the best performances I've seen from The Weeknd: a set design in which you glimpse the confined city of New York in pandemic. This Performance was the one that opened the MTV VMA 2020, a year in which very good songs came out despite coronavirus. Words to describe this show starring the song "Blinding Lights" fall short. The helicopters and the fireworks, and the light shows... it all came together perfectly. Besides the lyrics being a piece of musical artistry, The Weeknd has a certain charisma, as weird as it sounds when his style is more bizarre.
I watch this Performance every time I want to write some rebellious literature, and I'm blown away by the inspiration that comes to my neurons. The emotion is the same since the first day I saw this phenomenal show.
1 – Higher Power: Coldplay
Sin duda alguna, el mejor Performance que he visto (hasta ahora) alude nada más y nada menos que a la banda Coldplay, ¡estos chavales sí que saben cómo entusiasmar a sus oyentes! Imposible no contagiarse de la música y ponerse a cantar con ese escenario en medio del mar, los hologramas y el espectáculo de luces de colores. ¡Espléndido! Es como mirar un fragmento de lo que son los conciertos de Coldplay. Chris Martin y compañía le ponen mucho entusiasmo al asunto, algo que siempre los ha caracterizado incluso hasta en sus videos musicales.
La canción es hermosa: motivación para el alma. Sueño con ir a un concierto de esta banda, pero producciones como éstas me hacen sentir un poco de esa energía maravillosa. Este video anima a cualquiera, en serio, solo véanlo y juzguen ustedes mismos, XD.
Without a doubt, the best performance I've seen (so far) is by none other than the band Coldplay, these guys really know how to get their listeners excited! Impossible not to get caught up in the music and start singing along with that stage in the middle of the sea, the holograms and the colored light show, splendid! It's like watching a fragment of what Coldplay concerts are. Chris Martin and company put a lot of enthusiasm into it, something that has always characterized them even in their music videos.
The song is beautiful: motivation for the soul. I dream of going to a concert of this band, but productions like this make me feel some of that wonderful energy. This video cheers anyone up, seriously, just watch it and judge for yourselves, XD.
La música no es solo ritmos y voces bonitas, en ocasiones trasciende a transmitir esa atmosfera tallada en la letra de una canción. Me encantan los performance por este motivo; uno se empapa de una manera más cercana en las canciones que más nos gustan con luces, movimientos de cámaras y escenografías espléndidas. Lo más bonito es que sientes que es solo para ti, y que de alguna manera puedes sentirte más vivo.
Music is not only rhythms and beautiful voices, sometimes it transcends to transmit that atmosphere carved in the lyrics of a song. I love the performance for this reason; one soaks in a closer way in the songs that we like the most with lights, camera movements and splendid scenery. The most beautiful thing is that you feel that it is just for you, and that somehow you can feel more alive.
