Esta es una pequeña selección de canciones clásicas que de seguro escuchaste alguna vez. Se remontan a los años 80 y 90, y aunque para aquel entonces yo todavía no había nacido, logré yo oírlas por primera vez gracias a mi padre y su gusto por las baladas románticas. Suelo suspirar cada vez que oigo estas piezas musicales, pues me traen recuerdos de mi infancia. Algunas formaron parte de la composición musical de películas exitosas como el Titanic… de seguro ya se imaginan ustedes a cuál me refiero. This is a small selection of classic songs that I'm sure you've heard at some point. Some of them date back to the 80s and 90s, and even though I wasn't born then, I got to hear them for the first time thanks to my father and his taste for romantic ballads. I usually sigh every time I hear these pieces of music, because they bring back memories of my childhood. Some of them were part of the musical composition of successful movies like Titanic... I'm sure you can already imagine which one I'm referring to. Anyway, I'll share them with you so you can incorporate them into your romance and sweet love playlists.

La voz de Céline Dion es majestuosa, tan majestuosa que las lágrimas escapan de mis ojos con tan solo oírla. Esta canción consagró el aire sentimental que tenía la película de El Titanic, en la cual se mostraba un romance prohibido con desenlaces trágicos. Al respecto, “My Heart Will Go On” tiene un mensaje cautivador. Algunos amores perduran para siempre en el corazón, son inolvidables. Más allá de los amores imposibles, creo que esta pieza musical también relata el simbolismo de lo que representan las personas especiales, aquellas que se ganan nuestro amor y que, por alguna razón, ya no están con nosotros. La esperanza de mantenerlas en cada latido cobra entonces un gran significado: nunca se van del todo… Permanecen presentes en el recuerdo, en las ganas de vivir y abrazar todo lo bonito que nos dejaron.

Este significado ha cobrado mucha relevancia para mí. En mi corazón siempre mantengo presente a mi hermano… cada latido es una señal de que debo seguir luchando en su nombre sin olvidarlo jamás, algo que es imposible cuando el amor y la hermandad prevalecen en el recuerdo.

Beyond impossible loves, I think this piece of music also relates the symbolism of what special people represent, those who earn our love and who, for some reason, are no longer with us. The hope of keeping them in each heartbeat then takes on a great meaning: they are never completely gone... They remain present in the memory, in the desire to live and embrace all the beautiful things they left us.

This meaning has become very important to me. In my heart I always keep my brother present... each heartbeat is a sign that I must continue to fight on his behalf without ever forgetting him, something that is impossible when love and brotherhood prevail in the memory.

Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You

Una de mis canciones más favoritas y la que me hace cantar sin pensarlo es, sin duda, “I Will Always Love You”. Siento que esta pieza de Whitney Houston es apasionada, cantada con ese amor que desborda la verdad de dejar ir a la persona que amas, y además reconocer que nunca dejarás de amarla. No es fácil aceptar una realidad en la que la chispa que unió a dos personas termine por motivos lejanos al entendimiento. Sin embargo, lo que rescato de esta canción es la manera en la que se preserva el sentimiento de los amores que dejan cosas bonitas, aunque las cosas no hayan terminado bien. Es parte de ese proceso de madurez amorosa:

“Cuando amas alguien y sabes que debes dejarlo ir, logras sentirte feliz porque ese alguien también se sentirá feliz.”

Esta canción fue uno de los grandes éxitos de Whitney Houston. Esta ya no está en el mundo físico, pero sin duda, dejó un gran legado en la historia de la música.

One of my favorite songs and the one that makes me sing along without thinking about it is, without a doubt, "I Will Always Love You". It is not easy to accept a reality in which the spark that brought two people together ends for reasons beyond our understanding. However, what I rescue from this song is how the feeling of love that leaves beautiful things is preserved, even if things have not ended well. It is part of that process of loving maturity:

Elton John – Sacrifice

“Ese amor que desaparece, pero que deseo mantener con vida... no es un sacrificio….”

Sacrifice es una canción que te hace sentir frío cuando entiendes que, intentando rescatar un amor de las cenizas, te condenas al agrio océano del dolor e incluso de la frustración. El corazón se congela lentamente hasta que la chispa desaparece, pero no las ganas de rescatar lo perdido. He observado mucho esto e incluso, recomiendo esta pieza de Elton de vez en cuando a mis amigos. En cierto modo, la letra tiene relación con las anteriores canciones que mencioné, solo que en esta la persona no guarda la memoria del amor en su corazón o lo deja ir, simplemente espera recuperarlo. En ocasiones, la esperanza y las ganas de salvar una relación pueden más que la fría realidad de una ruptura.

Me enteré de que Elton John terminó su última gira y se despidió de los escenarios, ¡sin duda una gran estrella! Sus canciones son y serán las más icónicas a través del tiempo.

Sacrifice is a song that makes you feel cold when you understand that, trying to rescue love from the ashes, you condemn yourself to the sour ocean of pain and even frustration. The heart slowly freezes until the spark disappears, but not the desire to rescue what was lost. I have observed this a lot and even, I recommend this Elton piece from time to time to my friends. In a way, the lyrics are related to the previous songs I mentioned, only in this one the person doesn't keep the memory of love in their heart or let it go, they just hope to get it back. Sometimes, hope and the desire to save a relationship can do more than the cold reality of a breakup.

I heard that Elton John finished his last tour and said goodbye to the stage, no doubt a great star! His songs are and will be the most iconic through time.

George Michael - Careless Whisper

Todo termina cuando hay un engaño; es difícil recuperar la confianza de la persona herida y controlar las ansias de culpa. Las notas del saxofón son como una explosión descontrolada de pasión, como el fuego que devora el amor a cambio del deseo. I've been putting these songs in my playlist to sleep, especially when it's raining and the weather is colder.
