Retro music for Three Tune Tuesday

ttt.jpg

Greetings! Today we continue our endless musical journey into the past. I present only one project (although it has releases under several different names...) so, again: Messer Chups.

Messer Für Frau Müller - Tanzlearner

(unofficial video; from 'Allo, Superman!' LP, 2000)

You recognize the music quickly, as well as the video sequence... it mixes footage from three cult films: Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction", and Russian comedies "Kidnapping Caucasian Style" (1967) and "Operation Y" (1965). The way the story flows seamlessly from film to film provides a good part of the fun. Different countries, epoch - but the folks do need the same things, they rejoice in the same things, and suffer as well...

Music is cyclical; each current generation rejects the values of their fathers and has its own alternative cultural code. In our deadly postmodern times, a constant appeal to retro music is inevitable. I love retro, you know. And what is most surprising for me is that this surf music a-la 60-es is being recorded by a modern group from my city, from St. Petersburg. It goes so well with this video footage from old films. This is old school and incredibly modern at the same time (the second clip assures that). Bravo!

Messer Chups - Magneto

(official video; The Open Stage Berlin, 2015)

"Great guitarist, tight drummer, beautiful bass player... but the true star will always be the spring reverb",-- as someone neatly put it.

Messer Chups - For everyone who is over 30

(unofficial video; from 'Vamp Babes' LP, 2002)

This is a nice retro tune, it is about love, no 'surf' and drama here - and some amazing videofeed taken from the film "Sedmikrásky" (1966) by Věra Chytilová. Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed today's music selection, and travelling around the globe without leaving the Hive. 😎 The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Previous issues: 106 | 107 | 108 | 109 | 110 | 111 | 112 | 113 | 114 | 115 | 118 | 119 | 121 | 122 | 123
