After visiting Glastonbury and some Indie picks last week, we jump to Berlin and the home of techno. My three tunes for today are from Paul Kalkbrenner who is a world-famous DJ who starred in the movie "Berlin Calling".
This is a german language movie about the life of a DJ living in Berlin. You get to see some of the party life that Berlin has to offer. It also shows the bad psychological effects of taking drugs and how it can have a bad impact on your life/health.
The DJ reminds me of my time living in Berlin and the awesome party scene there. I would tell you more about it, but it's a bit of a haze, to be honest! If you are new to Berlin, I don't know if they are still doing them, but you could go on a bar crawl with the bike lending shop underneath Alexanderplatz which was always good fun and included a shot of Absynthe.
My first selection is Si Soy Fuego which is a really uplifting dance track and one of my favorites at the moment. This song is translated to mean I think, "yes, I am fire".
Next up is his track "Feed your head" which is another uplifting song that is a few years old now. The original video to the song is too slow and weird, so I link you to the set where he played it at Tomorrowland in 2018:
The song directly after this is the probably most well-known song from Paul called the "Sky and Sand" song, which is an old one that I now choose as my third song. I would recommend listening to the live version above but here I link to the original video which is the inspiration for this post.
It has some clips from the movie and gives you an idea of life in Berlin back in the day.

Nach dem Besuch von Glastonbury und einigen Indie-Picks letzte Woche, machen wir einen Sprung nach Berlin und in die Heimat des Techno. Meine drei Tunes für heute sind von Paul Kalkbrenner, einem weltberühmten DJ, der in dem Film "Berlin Calling" gespielt hat.
Dies ist ein deutschsprachiger Film über das Leben eines DJs, der in Berlin lebt. Man bekommt etwas von dem Partyleben zu sehen, das Berlin zu bieten hat. Er zeigt auch die schlechten psychologischen Auswirkungen des Drogenkonsums und wie er sich negativ auf dein Leben und deine Gesundheit auswirken kann.
Der DJ erinnert mich an meine Zeit in Berlin und die tolle Partyszene dort. Ich würde euch gerne mehr darüber erzählen, aber um ehrlich zu sein, ist es ein bisschen wie ein Nebel!
Wenn du neu in Berlin bist, weiß ich nicht, ob es die immer noch gibt, aber du konntest mit dem Fahrradverleih unter dem Alexanderplatz eine Kneipentour machen, die immer sehr lustig war und einen Schuss Absynthe beinhaltete.
Meine erste Wahl ist Si Soy Fuego, ein wirklich erhebender Dance-Song und einer meiner momentanen Favoriten. Der Song bedeutet übersetzt wie "Ja, ich bin Feuer".
Als Nächstes kommt sein Track "Feed your head", ein weiterer aufmunternder Song, der nun schon ein paar Jahre alt ist. Das Originalvideo zu dem Song ist zu langsam und unheimlich, daher verlinke ich euch das Set, in dem er ihn 2018 auf dem Tomorrowland gespielt hat:
Das Lied direkt danach ist das wohl bekannteste Lied von Paul, "Sky and Sand", ein altes Lied, das ich nun als mein drittes Lied wähle. Ich würde empfehlen, sich die Live-Version oben anzuhören, aber hier verlinke ich auf das Originalvideo, das die Inspiration für diesen Beitrag ist.
Es enthält einige Ausschnitte aus dem Film und vermittelt einen Eindruck vom Leben in Berlin damals.
