MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 117 - 3 Songs by Tracy Chapman (Part 2)! - (3 Cover Performances!)

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

This is my 52nd week in a row contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 117 overall!

In all of my TTT entries so far, I have tried to play the songs on guitar as well as share the original videos... and my current pattern for "Three Tune Tuesday" is to pick three songs by one of my favourite artists, that has inspired me - as I also write original songs. I have planned to reach 52 weeks in a row, a full year, before putting the guitar down and merely sharing 3 videos like an ordinary human being! Hahaha! Today is that day!

For the final few weeks of my 52 week challenge, I thought it would be nice to revisit some of my favourite prolific artists I have already tackled and do a Part 2!

This week I would like to tackle Tracy Chapman - Part 2! I have fond memories of singing along to Tracy Chapman with my mom. When I was a teenager learning the guitar, my slightly higher voice resembled Tracy Chapman's quite a bit, so it was always fun to learn and sing her songs for that reason too, besides how good they are in general!

The first time I tackled Tracy Chapman, I did:
Fast Car
Across the Lines
Talking about a Revolution

What should I do this time? I'd like to start with her soulful song called "Crossroads"! Here is the original:

One song by Tracy Chapman that I think is criminally under-rated and one of the best love songs I know is "The Promise". Here is the original:

And finally, one of Tracy Chapman's most famous songs of all, "Baby Can I Hold You", which was also quite famously covered by Ronan Keating. Apparently Pavarotti sung it with Tracy Chapman at a big benefit concert he organised as well!

So that's week 117 done and dusted! I hope you enjoyed the second batch of songs by Tracy Chapman?

This also marks my 52nd and final week in a row that I have tried to cover the chosen songs myself. It has been quite a good run, but now I plan to relax for a bit before the urge to try and learn 3 songs every week takes me again! Hahaha

So, from next week, when I start sharing the original videos only (like a normal human being with limited free time - hopefully spent on rehearsals and recordings for some MobeyDick gigs), my challenge will be to pick songs that match the theme for the week for the "Hive Open Mic" challenge, and encourage people who take part in that to come over and check if they're feeling stuck.

Will I ever pick up the guitar again for TTT? Probably, it's hard to resist if I have the time!!!

Thank you to everyone who has listened to any of my 52 weeks of covers - I really appreciate it!
