I know that many of us in this @music community, within Hive, can easily call ourselves (ourselves) connoisseurs and tasters of good music. From those who create content through videos, covers, own songs or any other expression of this art within the posts we vote and follow (authors, creators), amateur musicians, music lovers and above all, friends who being different, we can agree on one thing: everything related to music, is simply irresistible. And that's how, from my point of view, the dark sound, the daring and sensual lyrics, plus the talent of a seductive rock style, makes Queens of The Stone Age, not to go unnoticed.
Sé que muchas de las personas que estamos en esta comunica @music, dentro de Hive, tranquilamente podemos llamarnos (a nosotros mismo) conocedores y degustadores de buena música. Desde aquellos que crean contenido a través de vídeos, covers, canciones propias o cualquier otra expresión de este arte dentro de los posts que votamos y que seguimos (autores, creadores), músicos aficionados, melómanos y sobre todo, amigos que al ser distintos, podemos ponernos de acuerdo en una cuestión: todo lo relacionado con la música, es sencillamente irresistible. Y es así, como desde mi óptica, el sonido oscuro, las letras atrevidas y sensuales, más el talento de un estilo de rock seductor, hace que Queens of The Stone Age, no pase desapercibido.
Within @Music, in Hive, during my search, I've been looking for something about this band, and I simply haven't found anything. And that's something I can't afford. Not only because I admire them, and a lot, but because the ability these guys have is simply incredible. They are a dreamlike, sensory experience. Many critics and specialists classify them as "Stoner rock" but, as I have explained in previous posts, there is no such thing as pure sound. However, having said that, no less true are the psychedelic, punk rock, alternative metal and industrial rock components that we can detect in the music created by Josh Homme and his band; including the hit "No One Knows" which features Dave Grohl on drums.
Energetic, mystical, sensual, skilled and above all, pioneering. And yes, I mean that right. You can't compare them to absolutely no one. Because they are a band with an incomparable sound. They created the fusion that later made them stand out and founded what they themselves call "Robot Rock", but which within the rock category is called "Stoner". For those who haven't heard this type of sound, you will find many of Queens of The Stone Age's influences in the sound of the Swedish band "Ghost", where it seems that both bands pay homage to each other. But I digress, what makes them exceptional? Indisputably, the guitar sound. They are absolutely harmonic and with a clear purpose, to support the melody of the voice.
Dentro de @Music, en Hive, durante mi búsqueda, me he dado a la tarea de buscar algo sobre esta banda, y sencillamente no he encontrado nada. Y éso, es algo que no me puedo permitir. No solo porque los admiro, y mucho, sino debido a que la habilidad que tienen estos tipos es sencillamente increíble. Son una experiencia onírica, sensorial. Muchos críticos y especialistas los clasifican como "Stoner rock" pero, como ya he explicado en posts anteriores, tal cosa como el sonido puro no existe. Sin embargo, dicho esto, no menos cierto son los componentes de psicodelia, punk rock, metal alternativo y de rock industrial que podemos detectar en la música creada por Josh Homme y su banda; incluyendo el éxito "No One Knows" que cuenta con la colaboración de Dave Grohl en la batería.
Enérgicos, místicos, sensuales, habilidosos y sobre todo, pioneros. Y sí, digo bien. No se les puede comparar con absolutamente nadie. Puesto que son una banda con un sonido incomparable. Crearon la fusión que luego, les hizo destacar y fundar lo que ellos mismos denominan como "Robot Rock" pero que dentro de las categoría del rock es llamar "Stoner". A quienes no hayan escuchado este tipo de sonido, hallaran muchas de las influencia de Queens of The Stone Age en el sonido de la banda sueca "Ghost", donde pareciera que ambas agrupaciones se hicieran homenaje una a otra. Pero estoy divagando, ¿qué les hace excepcionales? Indiscutiblemente, el sonido de la guitarra. Son absolutamente armónicas y con un propósito claro, respaldar la melodía de la voz.
Also, the sound of Queens (they are also known by this shorter abbreviation of the original name), can be meticulously broken down to the influence of the sound developed in Seattle in the late 80's and throughout most of the 90's, where grunge was the lord and master of the rock scene in the United States, and by extension, the world. In addition, Queens of The Stone Age guitarist and vocalist Josh Homme, prior to the creation of this band, used to play in Screaming Trees, a grunge band from the Washington state capital. In fact, many people, upon seeing the death of grunge as a genre, or what it became once its exponents died of drug overdoses, have labeled Queens as the most loyal representative of the sound and essence of Grunge, creating Stoner Rock.
También, el sonido de Queens (también son conocidos con este abreviación más corta del nombre original), se puede desglosar meticulosamente a la influencia que tiene el sonido desarrollado en Seattle a finales de los años 80's y durante casi toda la década de los 90's, donde el grunge fue el amo y señor de la esceno del rock en los Estados Unidos, y por ende, en el mundo. Además, el guitarrista y vocalista de Queens of The Stone Age, Josh Homme, previo a la creación de esta banda, solía tocar en Screaming Trees, una banda del movimiento grunge de la capital del estado de Washington. De hecho, muchas personas, al ver la muerte del grunge como género, o en lo que derivó una vez sus exponentes murieron por sobredosis de drogas, han catalogado a Queens como el representante más leal al sonido y a la esencia del Grunge, creando el Stoner Rock.
In this sense, there are many similarities within the sound of this band with the alternative rock scene of the Seattle scene. And it's no secret to anyone that these guys loved that genre, but they didn't just copy the sound that already existed, but the opposite; they created one that is as good and unique as the one they referenced. This can be seen in such great tracks as "Go With The Flow", "Little Sister" (which is a really controversial song, because it's not about a "little sister") "Sick, Sick, Sick" and, for me, one of the best these guys have "Make It Wit Chu". The latter, an ode to black blues and especially that bar/cabaret sound and the rider style of bikers everywhere. Exquisite.
En este sentido, son muchas las similitudes que hay dentro del sonido de esta banda con el de escena de rock alternativo de la movida de Seattle. Y tampoco es secreto para absolutamente nadie que estos muchachos, amaron ese género, pero no hicieron una copia más del sonido que ya existía, sino todo lo opuesto; crearon uno que es tan bueno, y único como lo fue al que hacían referencia. Esto lo podemos ver en temazos como "Go With The Flow", "Little Sister" (que es una canción realmente polémica, porque no trata de una "hermanita") "Sick, Sick, Sick" y, para mí, una de los mejores que estos chicos tienen "Make It Wit Chu". Este último, una oda al blues negro y sobre todo a ese sonido de bar/cabaret y al estilo rider de los motoristas de todo el mundo. Exquisito.
Now then, if you want to discover the experience of the sound that these pioneers Queens of The Stone Age have brought to rock and roll in general, and to music as "collateral damage", I'll leave you within the post a compilation of this band's best hits. Which, I am convinced, for those who love good rock, will make their lives much happier, but above all, will cheer them up in a somber, somewhat gloomy way, but without losing the characteristic mischievousness of good rock. Which, in short, is something that should never be lost in great rock bands, the irreverence to create new sounds. Mixes that leave their mark on history and change the lives of billions of people around the world.
This is what makes true artists great, not the millions of records sold or the video clips we can see on famous music channels, or on big digital platforms; nothing like that. It's the intangible, what we feel when we hear that music, and that even the most skilled and outstanding writer (which is definitely not me) has a hard time explaining in an explicit, real and effective way. Queens of The Stone Age, is a reminder of the greatness that lies in the boldness of artistic creation. Guys who are confident in their abilities and who packed into their seven albums almost every genre of rock and roll that existed to end up with a pioneering, revolutionary, satisfying and sensual sound. A band of geniuses, who change (for the better) the lives of those who listen to them.
Ahora bien, si quieren descubrir la experiencia del sonido que estos pioneros de Queens of The Stone Age han traído al rock and roll en general, y a la música como "daño colateral", les dejaré dentro del post un compilado de los mejores éxitos de esta banda. Que, estoy convencido, para aquellos que aman el buen rock, les hará la vida mucho más feliz pero sobre todo, les animará de un modo sombrío, algo lúgubre pero sin perder la picardía característica del buen rock. Que en definitiva, es algo que jamás se debe perder en las grandes bandas de rock, la irreverencia a crear nuevos sonidos. Mezclas que dejen su huella en la historia y que cambien la vida de miles de millones de personas alrededor del mundo.
Esto es lo que hace grande a los verdaderos artistas, no los millones de discos vendidos o los videoclips que podamos ver en canales musicales famosos, o en grandes plataformas digitales; nada que ver. Si no lo intangible, lo que sentimos al oír esa música, y que hasta el más habilidosos y destacado escritor (que definitivamente no soy yo) le cueste poder explicar de un modo explícito, real y eficaz. Queens of The Stone Age, es un recordatorio de la grandeza que hay en el atrevimiento de la creación artística. Unos chicos que confían en sus habilidades y que metieron dentro de sus sietes álbumes casi todos los géneros del rock and roll que existían para terminar con un sonido pionero, revolucionario, satisfactorio y sensual. Una banda de genios, que cambia (para mejor) la vida de quienes los escuchan.
