In recent days I saw the movie "The day Frank met Carlitos" and I was amazed with the staging, but more I loved his songs and that's why my #TTT I dedicate it to tango and its greatest exponent of all time:
Carlos Gardel
Of this singer I only knew his name and that he was "a great"; but tango? I thought it was only dance, suffering and sensuality, but no, tango has very beautiful lyrics that made me appreciate everything he wanted to express at the time and with very beautiful lyrics; that's why today I bring you three songs by the Frenchman by birth but Argentinean at heart, that immortalized his career:
Hola mis queridos amigos, les saludos esperando que todo este bien y sobre todo el amigo @ablaze conocedor de las buenas canciones y ritmos de esta comunidad. En días pasados vi la película "El día que Frank conoció a Carlitos" y quedé maravillada con la puesta en escena, pero más me encantaron sus canciones y por eso mi #TTT se lo dedico al tango y su mayor exponente de todos los tiempos: Carlos Gardel De este cantante solo sabía su nombre y que fue "un grande"; pero ¿el tango? pensé que solo era baile, sufrimiento y sensualidad, pero no, el tango tiene letras muy bonitas que me hicieron apreciar todo lo que quería expresar en su momento y con una letras muy pasionarias; por eso hoy les traigo tres canciones del francés de nacimiento pero argentino de corazón, que inmortalizaron su carrera:
Like any song of disillusionment of these times, it expresses the sadness of someone leaving our lives. This disappointment knows no language or geographical barriers. When someone leaves us, the pain and regret is something that takes over us and overshadows our life.
I liked this song because we start talking about passion, feelings, love; this makes it very beautiful, because at that time I imagine that because of macho behaviour or that "men don't cry" they didn't allow them to share their emotions, so listening to this song from love, from pain, is a very heartfelt song.
It seems to me that heartbreak has no time, no class, no geography, just having that pain to express it through a song; I simply loved it:
Caminito (1926) Como cualquier cancion de desamor de estos tiempos, expresa la tristeza de que alguien se vaya de nuestras vidas. Esta desilusión no conoce de barreras de idiomas o geográficas. Cuando alguien se va, nos abandona, el dolor y el pesar es algo que se apodera de nosotros opacando nuestra vida. Esta canción me gustó porque comenzamos hablando de la pasión, de los sentimientos, del amor; esto la hace muy bonita, porque en aquel tiempo me imagino yo que por los comportamientos machistas o aquello que "los hombres no lloran" no permitían compartir sus emociones, así que escuchar esto desde el amor, desde el dolor, es una canción muy sentida. Me parece que el desamor no tiene época, clase, geografía, solo tener ese dolor para expresarlo a través de una canción; simplemente me encantó:
I like this song because it talks about Carlos' passions, and among them was horse racing. It talks about the culture of those times, about how men behaved, those who had money, and the things that only they could do. This led him to talk about the love and longing for his land and his customs, about the words that only Argentines know, but just by listening to the song, one ends up understanding everything.
This song seemed super original to me, because not everything was suffering and disillusionment. A tango for the horse races? well I got it for you! 🤣 so you don't have to pigeonhole the tangos in a single theme, because they can be jocular, funny, or speak with the same passion as they speak of love. This song is spectacular:
Leguisamo solo (1927) Esta canción me gusta porque habla de las pasiones de Carlos, y entre esa estaba la de las carreras de caballos. Es hablar de la cultura de esos tiempos, de como se comportaban los hombres, los que tenían dinero, y las cosas que podían hacer solo ellos. Esto lo llevaba a hablar de la querencia y añoranza de su tierra y sus costumbres, de las palabras que solo los argentinos conocen pero que con el simple hecho de escuchar la canción uno termina entendiendo todo. Esta canción me pareció super original, porque no todo era sufrimiento y desilusión ¿Un tango para las carreras de caballo? bueno ¡Te la tengo! 🤣 así que no hay que encasillar en un solo tema los tangos, porque pueden ser jocosos, divertidos, o hablar con la misma pasión que se habla del amor. Esta espectacular esta canción:
This song made me laugh; whether we're talking about love or pain, I can't imagine a song that tells her all the barbarities of the failed relationship. Listening to it carefully we can find phrases of hate and mockery directed at her mother, father and herself 🤣.
It's about a woman who behaved very badly, she made him believe she was in love with him and well, no, she just used him and discarded him, playing with his heart. Well yes, before today's songs that are rude, this is telling the person "you're a scumbag" but in tango, super formal and passionate 😊.
So if you meet a bad woman with these characteristics, you can dedicate it and you will look scorned and fine, because Gardel has that touch:
Chorra (1928) Esta canción si me dio risa; si hablamos de amor o de dolor, no me puedo imaginar una canción que le diga todas las barbaridades de la relación fallida. Escuchándola con detenimiento podemos encontrar frases de odio y de burla dirigidas a su madre, padre y ella misma 🤣. Es de una mujer que se portó muy mal, le hizo creer que estaba enamorada de él y pues no, solo lo uso y lo desecho, jugando con su corazón ¿Todo eso expresado en el tango? Bueno si, antes de las canciones de ahora que son groseras, esta es decirle a la persona "eres una escoria" pero en tango, super formal y pasional 😊. Así que si conocen a una mala mujer con estas características, pueden dedicarla y se veran despechados y finos, porque Gardel tiene ese toque:
Carlos in my opinion was a beautiful, fine man, with a privileged voice, a gentleman who put his heart into what he sang and I think that's why he was so great in his time.
I never imagined myself listening to and singing tango a hundred years old, but here I am, enjoying those musical gems that never go out of fashion and which I prefer to the other meaningless songs of these times.
Maybe they are not his most famous songs but I wanted to show a facet of this singer so that you can sing them and appreciate them as I do.

Carlos a mí parecer era un hombre hermoso, fino, una voz privilegiada, un caballero que le ponía corazón a lo que interpretaba y creo que por eso fue tan grande en su época. Jamás me imaginé escuchando y cantando tango de cien años, pero aquí estoy, disfrutando de esas joyas musicales que no pasan de moda y los cuales prefiero ante de que otras de esas canciones sin sentido de estos tiempos. Quizás no son sus canciones más famosas pero quise mostrar una faceta de este cantante para que se animen a cantarlas y apreciarlas como yo.
