I am happy and at the same time sad, because unfortunately we have reached the end of Lady Gaga's Deep Dive, that is, we are at the last review of Gaga's studio albums. It's a bittersweet feeling, because it has been an amazing journey with which I could listen again to beautiful songs of my favorite artist, relive incredible memories and feelings. This journey comes to an end for now, but not before taking an amazing ride through Chromatica.
Chromatica, the immense project known as LG6, the album that would return Gaga to this bizarre facet we haven't seen since 2013's ARTPOP. The world missed Gaga's eccentricities, and she was on hand to bring all of that back with a new project that would take us through an incredible journey to a dance floor, a state of mind, another planet. Chromatica had the concept of being a whole planet, map included, that would take us to the deepest places in us to dance and celebrate all our inner struggle and battle.
In May 2020 began one of my favorite eras of Lady Gaga, a Dance, electronic world that would fill us with pink and beautiful moments that marked pop culture. Although the project was planned to be much bigger, all this was affected by COVID-19 and the pandemic. However, the project was continued and promoted doing everything possible so that the album had an incredible reception from the public, a rather ambitious project, with great collaborations with legendary artists of international stature such as Ariana Grande, Elton John and BlackPink. Starting the journey, we are off to an incredible planet, let's dive into Chromatica by Lady Gaga.

The era officially begins on February 28, 2020, with the release of the lead single from her new album, Stupid Love, which takes us into the Chromatica universe. Gaga introduces us to a new world, full of color, life and dance. The overall sound of the single is very reminiscent of 80s retro music, something that became a trend with her, The Weeknd and Doja Cat successfully bringing these sounds to pop music. The production on this single feels pretty clean, with a big improvement from her last dance pop era, Gaga delivers a beautiful danceable harmony that you won't get tired of.
The lyrics talk a bit about meeting someone and not being able to help but fall in love with that person. It can have several interpretations, including love for fame, for fans and wanting that "stupid love". It also has a political message of togetherness, especially when seen in conjunction with the video, where you see pink forces fighting for peace, with various tribes fighting each other. A strong single that had a bit of chart success and would open a great era for Gaga.
Not only me, but the professional critics classified the lead single of this era as an excellent return of Gaga to the dancefloor and her electro-pop roots. I should add that many fans were a bit disappointed, especially with the video which for them felt a bit underpowered, especially compared to her previous pop videos with choreography that didn't fall short of excellence. Still, Gaga had a medium commercial success with this song that barely opened the era.
I only asked you to show me a real good time.
Probably one of the best songs on the album, and I won't argue with that. The first collaboration with current pop princess Ariana Grande marked a milestone in pop music. The song broke multiple records, becoming a huge hit immediately. Among the records it broke, we can't ignore that the song became the first female duet in history to debut at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100.
Its production is simply wonderful, highlighting a divine amount of sounds, including a violin in a mostly electronic song. It was mainly produced by Bloodpop, who took the reins on most of the album, taking us into this dance pop experimentation, making it different but enjoyable. Its lyrics are encouraging, it's a message of love for yourself and to always persevere, it's accepting that you are not always well, that you will cry, but that you are alive, that's the most important thing, "I'd rather be dry, but at least I'm alive, rain on me".
The duet performers gave us one of the best collaborations in history, an unforgettable song that proved that, despite having several years in the industry, they are still the new royalty of pop, and every queen always needs a princess. Super interesting and something that makes me feel proud is that the person in charge of the remix of this song was none other than the Venezuelan Arca. Fun fact: It didn't take me long to learn the choreography of what is the best video of the whole Chromatica era.
So sweet, then I get a little angry, yeah.
The song serves as our first promotional single, and boy was it a divine explosion of flavors. Released shortly before the full album was released, "Sour Candy" immediately became one of the album's favorites. And it's unfortunate that it's only 2:37 minutes long, because it's addictive. The blend of two different worlds that made the union of Korean and American music viral.
An unforgettable experience listening to five beautiful women tell their lovers I'm imperfect, I have many flaws, but don't you dare try to change me. It's sassy, bold, feminine, all this mixed with a house-inspired beat, using the same sample from other great anthems like Break My Soul by Beyoncé, Swish Swish by Katy Perry and Used To Know Me by Charli XCX.
It was speculated for a long time that the single would not only be promotional, but also official, with video included. That's because everyone expected it, it was a huge hit without having been and would have been a huge hit. It did not lag behind breaking records, as it established itself as the song by a girl group to dominate the charts in more countries around the world, with a total of 52 countries, ranking at number #33 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, without video or official promotion.

No one knows me yet, not right now.
This is probably the weakest song on the album, and the truth is that it is not far behind, being the tremendous musical jewel that it is. A feminist anthem, a song dedicated to empowering women. Gaga visited her traumatic past, taking her mind back to when she was raped by a music producer. She had a hard time letting go of thinking of herself as a victim or a survivor. It was in a moment of self-discovery that she said she would not be that, she was so much more, she was a free woman, a free person who lived through traumatic events.
It is incredible to see how Chromatica is the constant celebration of having survived trauma. Being aware of it and wanting to improve in order to get closer to happiness. Free Woman is just one more of Chromatica's songs that will make us want to cry and dance.
A beautiful celebration for women, including trans women, something that made the song that much better. Gaga has always been a spokesperson for LGBTIQ+ rights, and women's rights, and this song perpetuates this title and this message she has brought throughout her career.
Keep repeating self-hating phrases.
Listening to Chromatica II (the album's second interlude) and then having 911 start was one of the best moments of 2020 and a musical treat. It's a masterful pop opus that reminds us of Gaga's infinite power to create iconic and viral moments. The last official single of the era and the song with which she would close the videos, leaving the world craving the video for Sour Candy.
Lyrically Gaga talks about the addiction of taking drugs to treat psychological problems such as anxiety and depression. Despite its infectious and incredibly addictive pop rhythm, the song has given me goosebumps and has brought more than one tear to my eye, because despite being very danceable, the lyrics are sad and personal, at a certain point making me identify with it and make me cry.
The video, on the other hand, is a gem, a masterful work of art produced by Tarsem Singh, in which Gaga goes through a series of confusing events in what seems to be a desert, so that in the end everything turns out to be an illusion of Gaga's mind that she was in a near-death experience (it's all fiction, part of the video). I also think it's important to mention that the remix was done by Charli XCX, giving the song a more trap touch.

So much to say about Chromatica that words fall short. One of the best pop albums ever created, it not only takes us to the dance floor, but deals with personal, delicate issues in such a masterful way that it's almost like celebrating yourself and your traumas. Chromatica serves as a small glimpse into Gaga's mind, full of beautiful colors that have helped her cope with herself during dark periods of her life. It gifted Gaga an incredible reception by critics, who gave it an overall score of 79 / 100, being her highest score at the moment and almost achieving the title of "universal acclaim".
Talking about the sound of the album on a general level, it's just perfect, imagine traveling to a pink planet, full of life, diversity and dance floors, it's something like that but done by Gaga. She managed to surpass the expectations not only of the critics but also of the general public, who thought that after ARTPOP she would be finished in music. She proved them wrong, that she is made for success and that she is still a legend in pop and general entertainment. Lyrically we see Gaga's ease in portraying her sadness, her weaknesses, her strength and her infinite love for the world, addressing issues such as inclusion, feminism, mental illness and equality, among others.

My review ends here, but not before adding that this is probably one of my favorite Gaga albums, one that made me cry, scream, dance and sing at the top of my lungs, leaving sweat, tears and smiles on multiple dance floors. It's divine to have lived through this era, to have appreciated Lady Gaga's talent as a singer, songwriter, performer. Estoy feliz y al mismo tiempo triste, porque lamentablemente hemos llegado al final del Deep Dive de Lady Gaga, es decir, estamos en la última reseña de los álbumes de estudio de Gaga. Es un sentimiento agridulce, porque ha sido un viaje increíble con el que pude volver a escuchar hermosas canciones de mi artista favorita, revivir increíbles recuerdos y sentimientos. Este viaje llega a su fin por ahora, pero no sin antes dar un asombroso paseo por Chromatica.
Chromatica, el inmenso proyecto conocido como LG6, el álbum que volvería a Gaga a esta faceta extraña que no veíamos desde el 2013 con ARTPOP. El mundo extrañaba las excentricidades de Gaga, y ella estaba a la orden para traer todo eso con un nuevo proyecto que nos llevaría a través de un increíble viaje a una pista de baile, un estado mental, otro planeta. Chromatica tuvo el concepto de ser todo un planeta, con mapa incluido, que nos llevaría a los lugares más profundos de nosotros para bailar y celebrar toda nuestra lucha y batalla interna.
En mayo del 2020 empezó una de mis eras favoritas de Lady Gaga, un mundo Dance, electrónico que nos llenaría de color rosa y de hermosos momentos que marcaron a la cultura pop. A pesar de que el proyecto se planeó mucho más grande, todo esto se vio afectado por culpa del COVID-19 y la pandemia. Sin embargo, se siguió con el proyecto y se promocionó haciendo todo lo posible para que el álbum tuviera un increíble recibimiento del público, un proyecto bastante ambicioso, con grandes colaboraciones con artistas legendarios de talla internacional como Ariana Grande, Elton John y BlackPink. Arrancando el viaje, nos vamos para un increíble planeta, sumerjámonos en Chromatica de Lady Gaga.

Empieza la era oficialmente el día 28 de febrero del año 2020, con la publicación del sencillo líder de su nuevo álbum, Stupid Love se encarga de adentrarnos al universo Chromatica. Gaga nos introduce a un nuevo mundo, lleno de colores, de vida y de baile. El sonido general del sencillo nos recuerda mucho a la música retro de los 80s, algo que se hizo tendencia con ella, The Weeknd y Doja Cat trayendo de forma exitosa estos sonidos a la música pop. La producción de este sencillo se siente bastante limpia, con una gran mejoría desde su última era dance pop, Gaga ofrece una hermosa armonía bailable de la que no te vas a cansar.
La letra nos habla un poco de conocer a alguien y no poder evitar enamorarte de esa persona. Puede tener varias interpretaciones, incluso el amor por la fama, por los fans y querer ese “estúpido amor”. Tiene también un mensaje político de unión, en especial viéndose en conjunto con el vídeo, donde se ve que las fuerzas rosadas luchan por la paz, existiendo varias tribus que pelean entre sí. Un fuerte sencillo que tuvo un poco de éxito en los charts y abriría una genial era para Gaga.
No solo yo, pero la crítica profesional clasifico al sencillo líder de esta era como un excelente regreso de Gaga a la pista de baile y a sus raíces de electro-pop. Debo agregar que muchos fans se sintieron un poco decepcionados, sobre todo con el vídeo que para ellos se sintió un poco sin fuerza, en especial comparado con sus anteriores vídeos pop con coreografías que no bajaban de la excelencia. Aún así, Gaga tuvo un éxito comercial mediano con esta canción que apenas abría la era.
Solo te pedí que me mostraras un buen momento .
Probablemente una de las mejores canciones del álbum, y no pienso discutirlo. La primera colaboración con la actual princesa del pop Ariana Grande marcó un hito en la música pop. La canción rompió múltiples records, convirtiéndose en un enorme éxito de inmediato. Entre los récords que rompió, no podemos ignorar que la canción se conviertió en el primer dueto femenino en la historia en hacer su debut en el número #1 del Hot 100 de Billboard.
Su producción es simplemente maravillosa, destacando una gran cantidad divina de sonidos, incluido un violín en una canción mayormente electrónica. La produjo principalmente Bloodpop, quien tomó las riendas en casi todo el álbum, llevándonos a esta experimentación del dance pop, haciéndolo diferente pero disfrutable. Sus líricas son alentadoras, es un mensaje de amor a ti mismo y de perseverar siempre, es aceptar que no siempre estás bien, que vas a llorar, pero que estás vivo, es lo más importante, “Prefiero estar seca, pero al menos estoy viva, llueve en mí”.
Las intérpretes del dueto nos regalaron una de las mejores colaboraciones en la historia, una canción inolvidable que demostró que, a pesar de tener varios años en la industria, ellas siguen siendo la nueva realeza del pop, y es que toda reina siempre necesita de una princesa. Súper interesante y cosa que me hace sentir orgulloso es que la encargada del remix de esta canción fue, ni más ni menos que la venezolana Arca. Dato curioso: No tardé mucho en aprenderme la coreografía del que es el mejor vídeo de toda la era Chromatica.
Tan dulce que me Fuente un poco, sí.
La canción nos sirve como primer sencillo promocional, y vaya que fue una divina explosión de sabores. Publicada poco antes de que se publicara el álbum completo, “Sour Candy” se convirtió de inmediato en una de las favoritas del álbum. Y es lamentable que apenas y dure 2:37 minutos, pues es adictiva. La mezcla de dos mundos distintos que hizo viral la unión de la música coreana con la americana.
Una experiencia inolvidable escuchar a cinco hermosas mujeres decirles a sus amantes Soy imperfecta, tengo muchas fallas, pero ni te atrevas a tratar de cambiarme. Es atrevida, descarada, femenina, todo esto mézclalo con un beat inspirado por el house, usando el mismo sample de otros grandes himnos como Break My Soul de Beyoncé, Swish Swish de Katy Perry y Used To Know Me de Charli XCX.
Se especuló durante mucho tiempo que el sencillo no solo sería promocional, sino que también sería oficial, con vídeo incluido. Esto se debe a que todos lo esperaban, fue un gran éxito sin haberlo sido y habría sido un gran éxito. No se quedó atrás rompiendo récords, pues se estableció como la canción de un grupo de chicas en dominar los charts en más países del mundo, con un total de 52 países, posicionándose en el número #33 del chart de Billboard Hot 100, sin vídeo ni promoción oficial.

Nadie me conoce aún, no ahora.
Probablemente estemos ante la canción más floja del álbum, y la verdad no se queda atrás siendo la tremenda joya musical que es. Un himno feminista, una canción dedicada a empoderar a las mujeres. Gaga visitó su pasado traumático, llevando su mente a cuando fue violada por un productor musical. Le costó mucho dejar de considerarse una víctima o una sobreviviente. Fue en un momento de autodescubrimiento que dijo que no sería eso, ella era mucho más, era una mujer libre, una persona libre que vivió eventos traumáticos.
Es increíble ver como Chromatica es la constante celebración de haber sobrevivido al trauma. Estar consciente de él y querer mejorar para conseguir acercarnos a la felicidad. Free Woman es solo una más de todas las canciones de Chromatica que nos harán querer llorar y bailar.
Una hermosa celebración para la mujer, incluyendo a las mujeres trans, algo que hizo de la canción algo mucho mejor. Gaga siempre ha sido vocera de los derechos LGBTIQ+, y de los derechos de la mujer, y esta canción perpetua este título y este mensaje que ha traído durante toda su carrera.
Sigo repitiendo frases de auto-odio.
Escuchar Chromatica II (el segundo interludio del álbum) y luego que empiece 911 fue uno de los mejores momentos del 2020 y una exquisitez para la música. Es una obra pop magistral que nos recuerda el infinito poder de Gaga para crear momentos icónicos y virales. El último sencillo oficial de la era y la canción con la que cerraría los vídeos, dejando al mundo con ganas del vídeo de Sour Candy.
Líricamente Gaga nos habla de la adicción por consumo de medicamentos para tratar problemas psicológicos tales como la ansiedad y depresión. A pesar de su ritmo pop contagioso e increíblemente adictivo, la canción me ha puesto la piel de gallina y me ha sacado más de una lágrima, pues a pesar de ser muy bailable, la letra es triste y personal, llegando en cierto punto a identificarme y hacerme llorar.
El vídeo, por otro lado, es una joya, una obra de arte magistral producida por Tarsem Singh, en el cual Gaga pasa por una serie de eventos confusos en lo que parece ser un desierto, para que al final todo resulte una ilusión de la mente de Gaga que estuvo en una experiencia cercana a la muerte (todo es ficción, parte del vídeo). También me parece importante mencionar que el remix fue llevado a cabo por Charli XCX, dándole un toque más trap a la canción.

Tanto que decir de Chromatica que las palabras se quedan cortas. Uno de los mejores álbumes pop jamás creados, que no solo nos lleva a la pista de baile, pero que trata tema personales, delicados de una forma tan magistral que es casi como celebrarte a ti mismo y a tus traumas. Chromatica nos sirve como un pequeño vistazo a la mente de Gaga, llena de hermosos colores que a la vez la han ayudado a sobrellevarse a ella misma durante períodos oscuros de su vida. Esto le regaló a Gaga una increíble recepción por los críticos, quienes le dieron un puntaje general de 79 / 100, siendo esta su mayor puntuación al momento y casi logrando el título de “aclamación universal”.
Hablando del sonido del álbum a nivel general, es simplemente perfecto, imagina viajar a un planeta rosado, lleno de vida, diversidad y pistas de bailes, es algo así pero haciéndolo Gaga. Ella logró superar las expectativas no solo de los críticos sino también del público general, quien pensó que luego de ARTPOP ella estaría acabada en la música. Probó que estaban mal, que ella está hecha para el éxito y que sigue siendo una leyenda del pop y del entretenimiento general. Líricamente vemos la facilidad de Gaga para retratarnos su tristeza, sus debilidades, su fortaleza y su infinito amor por el mundo, tratando temas como inclusión, feminismo, enfermedades mentales e igualdad, entre otros más.

Mi reseña culmina acá, pero no sin antes agregar que este es probablemente uno de mis álbumes favoritos de Gaga, uno que me hizo llorar, gritar, bailar y cantar a todo pulmón, dejando sudor, lágrimas y sonrisas en las múltiples pistas de baile. Es divino haber vivido esta era, haber apreciado el talento de Lady Gaga como cantante, compositora, performer.
