Luckily last night’s gusts brought some much-needed relief, cooling things down just enough for a halfway decent sleep. By morning, I was set on a different adventure. I packed up my inflatable kayak, determined to paddle instead of stroll around the Mierendorffinsel as i would do usually on a saturday. It felt good to switch things up, less legwork, more arm power. 6 kilometers gliding along the river’s surface, just inches above the water, gave me an entirely new view of the familiar surroundings. The gentle ripples, the quiet, and the rhythm of paddling shifted my perspective in more ways than one.
