Babia Góra in the Beskidy Mts is my favorite peak. Not the highest (1725m asl) but very prominent (and towering over its neighborhood - the next highest nearby is only 1557m asl). It can create its own weather and I’ve been there in all circumstances - from raging wind to pouring rain to perfect skies.
Yesterday was my visit number 18.5. I had a small group of 4 and in total we were +250yrs old ;-) For two of them it was the first time there and the other two had had not so good memories of rain and fog. This time the weather was wonderful. Cloudless skies, little breeze.
I chose the most challenging but also the most spectacular approach. Two ladies had some concerns about climbing a rock with the help of a metal "ladder" but in reality it’s nothing too difficult. We all made it and could appreciate the views.
There’s a species of small birds who make a living there, in extreme conditions. They pick worms and grass from between the rocks. They have also learnt that humans not only don’t harm them but bring food. They like small nuts or seeds falling from our meals and came very close to us. #AliveAndThriving
