My Actifit Report Card: July 7th '23 & clean your city effort

Hi there lovely #cleanplanet & #actifit community,

I hope, this post finds you well. I started my day yesterday as usual around 4:30 a.m., preparing for my morning spin on my mountain bike. I packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a bottle of peppermint tea to keep me energized throughout my ride. As I embarked on my journey, my first stop was the stairs behind the local soccer field.

To my dismay, I noticed a couple of cigarette butts scattered on the ground. Understanding the negative consequences of throwing cigarette butts into nature, I immediately picked them up and disposed of them properly. I wonder, if people would change their behaviour, if had more knowledge about the harm thrown away cigarette butt does.

Continuing on my path, I encountered two cans and a drink pack a bit further up the dirt road. Recognizing the importance of recycling, I decided to do my part and collected the cans, storing them in my backpack for later disposal at a supermarket. The drink pack, however, had to be thrown away as it was not recyclable.

As I continued my journey, I stumbled upon a pizza box lying on the side of the road. Concerned about the potential harm it could cause to wildlife if left unattended, I picked it up and disposed of it properly. It is disheartening to witness such disregard for the environment, but I believe that every small action counts in preserving our natural surroundings.

After completing my inspection of the soccer field, I decided to head towards the center of Solingen and explore its city center. Taking a short break, I enjoyed my peanut butter and jelly sandwich while observing the still asleep city around me.

A few kilometers after my stop, I had to end my tour prematurely due to the overflowing contents of my backpack. It was filled to the brim with recyclable items that I had collected along the way. Despite not being able to complete my entire planned route, I felt a sense of accomplishment knowing that I had made a small difference by reducing waste and promoting recycling.

Once back home, I transitioned into my home office for the day. Around 10 a.m., I took a short break to check on my garden. I was delighted to see the fruits and flowers thriving. My zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, and pepperoni plants were all flourishing. The vibrant colors of the different flowers, including hydrangeas, ice herbs, daylilies, purslane, asters, and thimble, brought me joy and reminded me of the beauty of nature.

In the evening, I took the dog of my mom for a walk and came across a little frog hopping along the path. It was a delightful encounter that reminded me of the diverse wildlife that coexists with us. As I continued my walk, I made sure to clean out any debris or litter I encountered along the dirt road, ensuring that it remained clean and safe for both humans and animals (nature).
