My Actifit Report Card: July 10 2024

Hey Actifitters,

As expected, the remnants of hurricane Beryl were passing through and it rain hard yesterday. All night, and the forecast predicted it would keep raining all day. Because it was the #Macfit semifinals, I tried to stay as active as possible indoor, pacing during meetings, and going downstairs way more often than I actually needed. But it was quite tempting to just do like these two and wait for drier weather. By the way, can you see all the hair they shed all the time...

Luckily, the forecast was once again not very accurate and in the afternoon, the rain started slowing down until it completely stopped. Of course, at the first opportunity, we started a walk with Kaia.

Just like me, she enjoyed the much cooler temperatures, down to about 67F (about 19C).

After our usual stop behind the front yard, we headed to the forest. The sky was still very grey, but no rain at all!

It wasn't a surprise, most of the trails were flooded. Did you notice that almost every time I share a picture of the big puddles in the forest, there is a blurry Kaia in the corner, rushing to jump in!

She was like 'That's what I'm talking about...'

Near our usual entrance, it was no use trying to go around the puddles, it was the same behind. So we tried to check the trails near another one of the entrances. Maybe you remember this area that I showed a few days ago, saying it was finally almost dry. Well, not anymore!

It wasn't much better at this entrance, making Kaia very happy of course.

But we were able to walk around the worst of it, and following Kaia's lead, we could walk on drier land for a bit.

We were able to walk all the way to the playground.

Kaia started showing the first signs of weakness for the day.

But I decided to follow the edge all around the forest. That pedestrian lane is very easy to walk, and with the cooler temperature, it was a good day to extend our walk. Not to mention it was also plenty of steps for #Macfit.

And even along the road construction, there's wildlife encounters. This deer crossed just in front of us! Kaia really wanted to chase it!

When we go around the forest like that, I like to stop by this open field. This time it was also an opportunity for Kaia to get just a few seconds of rest. Just enough to complete the walk with no problem.

And that was it for the day. It was more active than expected and even if I haven't checked yet, I'm hoping the final step count was sufficient to reach the #Macfit final! It's a good thing we took advantage of the cooler weather because unfortunately it won't last, the humid heat will be back right away.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
