the most important character is behind the scenes. More often than not. Or it's a simple silent janitor who observes everything. He just mops the floor. He does it well.
I was just talking with some people about this, that the most "consequential" people, the ones who talk alot, have charisma, well liked, center of attention - they're usually the ones most likely to talk bad about someone, or gossip, or slander. Yet the quiet types, the one that people ignore, the one that doesn't get invited to parties, the one who does his job quietly... often times they're the one that can be counted on when things are not going well.
