Down then Up into the Jungle

Friday has been fantastic with the weather being bright and so comfortably warm at least for me. Blue skies? Check✅ White clouds? Oh yes, another check✅ and a gentle breeze now and then. Just like what I wanted.

It was unplanned, today's walk. The husband was out in the morning for some errands and I was left home. It was my choice anyway for I have some commitments that needed to be done so I decided to stay and did my own thing. The urge for a stroll suddenly came while I was snacking on some bits of pawpaw (papaya) dipped in condensed milk. Not sure how I came up with the idea of doing that but it was quite good and my sweet tooth was satisfied. It didn't occur to me to take a photo though so nothing to show but yes, they were enjoyed to the last bite, lol!

Anyhow, while resting, I was thinking whether to go down or up. Both are appealing. The dirt road is another option but dismissed it for I have been there a lot of times already.

So with the small pack of tamarind candies in hand, I locked the door and went away from the house. My feet somewhat automatically led me to the trail down below the property and found myself along the narrow path where there are lots of bamboo. It was cool there as the tall trees hid me from the sunshine. I rested a bit while nibbling on some tiny candies. It was so refreshing. While there, I caught a glimpse of the fields down the valley not so far away.

Then when I was about to move, it dawned on me that I have forgotten to bring a bottle of water with me. Going farther down means I'd be more thirsty because there aren't much trees beyond the bamboos.

And for some reason, I had no mood to take photos which isn't like me but managed to snap a few from there.

Right after I took this shot of the mountain, the desire to go back home was rather strong. "Perhaps going towards the woods would be better," I mumbled trying to convince myself of the decision.

And so I walked back and noticed this blooming plant along my way. It was just beside a bonsai coffee tree. Funny that I didn't even see it while I was heading down.

Maybe because I wasn't really paying attention, lol!

I ended up going home from there. Coincidentally, the husband arrived. We then took a hike towards the jungle. He said it will be a lot more refreshing up there because there are trees.

And of course, he was right. It was even tempting to lay down on those bed of pine needles! Although I couldn't give in. Maybe next time! The nth time for me to refuse nature's offer just because I was scared there might be insects, ants or such.

What I love about walks like this is that we tend to talk a lot more about various things effortlessly. Thoughts just seem to be plenty and we just let them flow. Most importantly, the inner child in us comes out and play. And moments like those remind me that 'fun' should always be a part of our day.

Meanwhile, the valley is getting farther away and hidden from our view on the photo below.

These are a few more captures from up there. We returned home just before 5 pm when papa called inviting us to a cousin's party which he himself decided not to attend.

On arriving by the front yard, we were met by dog poops atop the small crate. The neighbor's big guy decided to visit us when we were not around and left some traces of himself, lol!

Anyway, it was another fun walk with the Farmboy. We will do it again for sure.
