Yard Walk and Talk on Father's Day

We had a gorgeous weather today - plenty of sunshine so it's awesomely warm which I absolutely adore. We had plans to take a drive to the city tomorrow so the husband was quite hesitant to go out earlier. He changed his mind though so we left the house before mid-day for a quick visit downtown.

On coming back home, we had a bit of fun strolling out the yard, mainly talking about what to do with this and that. "Maybe we just move this to there to give it some more space... What do you think?" or "How about removing those things and replacing them with something like this?" Those kind of conversations (planning). Nothing so serious.

Most of the plants outside are kind of out of place but they thrive along well together anyway which is good. At least none of them seem to be saying, "hey! I'm getting choked here!" LOL!

I often refer to our yard garden as a messy one because nothing seems to be in order. We just grow things alongside each other. In some other areas, there are rosemary growing between ornamental plants or strawberries beside the coffee tree etc.

Anyway, after checking most things and stopping mid-way to the east side, we came back to the front. We rested a bit then went to visit the backyard which we have not seen for quite a long while.

We took my favorite access path - the mossy stairway leading to it. The other one at the far end of the property is more steep and have not been used for months so there were tall weeds, grasses and untrimmed Hibiscus too.

While the husband took his time photographing the flowering Hibiscus, I was hunting for some mushrooms by the lying log too. We proceeded to check on the hydrangeas but there were blackjacks along the way which stick to whatever it touches and we didn't want to get them on our clothes so we just get past them and strolled farther to the plots where we used to grow beans and cherry tomatoes.

It was surprising to see quite a lot of Gladiola thriving and blooming there! All the while I was thinking they were gone and even mentioned it last time on my post but it's so cool to see them standing proud and tall that they even outgrown the grass around them.

We also had fun back there, planning what to do with the space. The husband will have to either cut the grass or just spray them. We came back to the front porch after some time where we spent most of the afternoon.

These roses and more stems of the same were brought home and planted by the husband some days ago. He said they are the short variety of roses and he likes to grow them around and probably make a hedge out of them when they multiply. We shall see...

It's been a great day and we are very grateful. There had been some more serious conversations like which place do we see ourselves living 3 years from now and such. Might share more about them soon.

Photos are mostly taken by the husband. 18th June 2023/20:25ph
