DuceCrypto's Actifit Report Card: December 16 - 17, 2023

Another big 25K step weekend for DuceCrypto, but since I was so sleepy on Sunday, I forgot to submit my report for Saturday. That means once again, I've got a weekend double feature covering Saturday, December 16, and Sunday, December 17.

We left off Saturday at midnight, as my partner and I were just leaving Manhattan after visiting the famous Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. She was tired after a long week of work, so my partner headed home. But I had other plans since an old school trap group -- Keys N Krates -- were playing at my favorite club, Elsewhere.

I showed up at the club a touch after 12:30 am, and just in time to catch the start of their 2-hour set. The crowd was smaller than I had hoped, I guess a sign of the times that this younger generation isn't hip to this artist, someone I listened to in the EDM scene about 10 years ago. Turns out most of the club was crammed into one of the smaller rooms called Zone One for a drum n bass artist -- Bou.

Bou was absolutely ripping it up on the DJ decks, playing hit after hit with his drum n bass remixes. The energy of the crowd in Zone One was supercharged, so I spent half of time dancing to the DnB. I always enjoy checking out the different bathroom stalls since they are getting tagged with graffiti and stickers all the time. Here are a few winners:

Pants Exploder made me LOL.

I headed back to the main hall for the last half hour of Keys N Krates, and they finished with some of their classics that I remember. I left the club around 3 am, but when I turned the corner to walk home, I heard some dubstep from up the block and had to check it out.

Turns out it was coming from a converted school bus that is now outfitted with power, speakers, DJ decks, and a removable rooftop to share the beats with Brooklyn. I'll bet this crew has a lot of fun in that school bus. As luck would have it, on my walk home I passed a second converted school bus. However, the other bus was covered with art and decorations, so more about looking than listening.

I finally got home a touch before 4 am and promptly got to sleep. I had my morning alarm set for 9:45am and got up in time to watch the Chelsea home match against Sheffield United. It took almost an hour, but Chelsea netted twice for a comfortable two-goal win. This was a much needed 3 points at home against a team they had to beat (and did).

The rest of the day was spent rolling around in bed, while briefly getting out of bed to get the pizza delivery and do a few errands around the house. My partner had an 8am flight Sunday morning leaving for San Diego and we had plans to go to the club until 4am, so she got most of her packing done during the day. I took a big fat nap and woke up around 11pm to get ready to go out.

By the time we had finished walking to the club it was just about midnight and I had just eclipsed the 15K step plateau! Another solid Saturday in the books.

I was totally in the groove when we got to the club because there were some really good house DJs on the lineup. San Pacho went back to back with Tobehonest for a 90-minute set that started at 11:30pm. Those guys had great chemistry and played well together.

The main headliner was Matroda, a young Croatian born producer who is doing big things here in the US. His 2-hour set was pure gas and the crowd was loving it. The last hour belonged to Martin Ikin, who was ripping off more classic house tracks as he finished the event.

We got a ride home from a friend, which robbed me of some steps, but everyone else was thankful for the late night ride. My partner dialed up an Uber and I got one last workout in before she left for a few weeks. I'll be meeting her in Denver after Christmas. I slept for a few hours after she left, then got up at 8am for more EPL footie.

After a few soccer matches, I did some homework to prep for the upcoming week of school and then somehow managed to binge eat all the snacks we had in our apartment. By 6pm I had eaten myself into a food coma and passed out for the rest of the night. I was precariously at 9955, just a few steps short of the 10K mark. But I did get a great night sleep, and with that I bid you farewell from this weekend actifit report. Cheers!
