According to Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air will be around two millimeters thinner than the current iPhone 16 models. To put this into perspective, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are 7.8 mm thick, while the Pro and Pro Max models measure 8.25 mm. The new model could measure somewhere between 5.55 mm and 6.25 mm, setting a new standard for slim smartphone design.

For context, the thinnest iPhone to date has been the iPhone 6, which measured 6.9 mm. Meanwhile, Apple’s thinnest devices overall are the iPad Pro models, with thicknesses of 5.1 mm and 5.3 mm for the 11-inch and 13-inch versions, respectively.
