On September 25, 2135 Bunnu will have his maximum critical approach to the earth, apparently there is no risk of impact, but, there is always a but, the earth's gravity will modify Bennu's path, which will make his future trajectory uncertain. It could lead straight to earth in the year 2182.

What happens is that there is a small possibility, which is 0.037% that Bennu's trajectory in 2135 passes through what astronomers call a "gravitational keyhole", a region of space that if the asteroid passes through it would place it in the correct trajectory to be able to impact the earth in 2182.

Researchers have used NASA's deep space network, state-of-the-art computer models, and information gathered by the Osiris-Rex mission.

Osiris-Rex is the ship that explored the asteroid, took a sample and is now heading to earth with the sample, it is a 2-year journey being close to the asteroid and orbiting it, it will arrive on September 24, 2023.

With all these instruments and tools, the researchers have been able to determine the trajectory of Bennu until the year 2300, this research is part of NASA's planetary defense mission, which consists of finding monitor asteroids and comets that can approach the earth and could represent a danger to humanity.

In conclusion, the new NASA calculations predict that there is a probability in 2700 that Bennu will hit the earth on September 24, 2182; and a 1750 total impact probability that it will do so before the year 2300.
