Wherever I see the magnolia x alba or white champaca I tend to locate this creature which usually will be seen one or two in the same plant. The young leaves of this plant seem to attract adult butterflies to lay eggs on it so that their youth can find the food they need easily.
That was what I do when I am home back at my parent's house on the recent festive. My brother has 3 potted White Champaca plants, and of course I check on the plant when I have time to try to find this Tailed Jay caterpillar.
I was not disappointed, because it seemed that the plants were infested a little bit, every plant has its own tailed jay caterpillar feasting on its young leaves. and they are at a different stage of their live, which most likely means that the butterfly that lays the egg on the plant visited the the plant at a different time.
