#threetunetuesday: Vacation Redux!

It's been a summer full of vacations for me this year. Usually I only get one big vacation per year, but this year I am blessed to get two! The first one took place in the upper peninsula of Michigan and I am still in the process of sharing those posts with you.

The current one is taking place right now and I am sitting in a lake house on the shores of Lake Huron with 15 of my in laws. It hasn't been 24 hours yet that we have been here, but we have settled back into our normal routines with everyone.

As I sit and type this post, several members of my family are around a table playing Ticket to Ride and we already started a marathon Dominoes session last night.

If I turn my head, I can look out one of several windows and take in the beauty of Lake Huron.

#threetunetuesday was started by @ablaze and it is a great way to share some awesome tunes with each of you here on Hive. I love discovering new bands and sharing some of my favorite with the people who take the time to visit my blog.

I remember when I first started dating @mrsbozz she was lamenting that she had lost her Styx greatest hits CD. This was in the heyday of MP3's, so it wasn't too much for me to burn a new one for her. It must have worked because almost 15 years later we are still together!

One of the first concerts we went to together was a hot ticket of .38 Special, REO Speedwagon, Styx, and I think one other band. I do remember that Styx put on a heck of a show and it was a great first memory to share with her.

Given the fact that I am on the shores of Lake Huron watching boats and freighters float past I felt that "Come Sail Away" would work perfectly. While not my favorite Styx song, it is right up there in the top three.

As I said, I am sitting in a vacation house with fifteen of my relatives. It's a pretty big space, but it's still safe to say that it is a crowded house. Thus, I chose a Crowded House song for my second selection. There was a point last night where @mrsbozz and I had to move to a different room of the house because it was too loud.

We just aren't used to that kind of commotion 24/7.

Likewise, I also felt that "Don't Dream It's Over" is the perfect Crowded House song for this post. We are only about one day into our four day getaway, but I know that by the time Thursday gets here we are going to be wishing that our time wasn't at an end.

@mrsbozz's parents really cherish these moments that they get to spend with all of their kids. While several of us are in the same basic area, the others are spread across a couple of different states. Being all in one space sharing time with each other is a gift, even when we get on each others nerves.

Finally, I'm not going to share it today, but I promise in a future post I am going to show you a picture of what the downstairs fridge looks like at our rental house.

If you were a stranger and you walked in, you might think we have a drinking problem. That's really not the case, but when we do get together, we all like to cut loose a little bit.

A fridge full of cold beers, seltzers, and mixers for our drinks is just the way to do that. I know several of the people who follow me don't like country music too much, but this song is a great example of a really good country song.

I love it and it always gets me singing along. I got to see Justin Moore several years before he released this single, but he has always had a sound and some good songwriting that I really appreciate.

It won't be long before we need to head back to reality and all of our big trips for the summer will be over. It's definitely bittersweet, but that's just life right.

Do you have some songs that immediately remind you of vacation or some jams that are a must play for you while you are relaxing around the pool?

I'd love for you to share them with me!
