They Won't Be Needing Us The Same Way For Long

One day; You won't need me to fall asleep.

You won't need me to brush your teeth, wash your face, bathe you, or help you with changing your clothes.

One day; You won't need me to help you walk.
-And you won't need me before you eat.

Just like a blink of an eye, you won't need me in the same way anymore. So I am going to take it slow and enjoy all the little beautiful moments while it's last.

I have learned not to get lost In the overwhelming responsibilities of parenting but just enjoy these moments before it's all gone.

Until that time when all the stress will be forgotten when we look at the videos and pictures all that will be left will be the sweet memories we make together.

To my darling son, today as you celebrate your second children's day, I'm so proud of you and our beautiful adventure so far. As I watch you, growing so fast I can't help but ask where does the time go?

One thing is for sure though, Daddy and I will always love you, and always be here for you, to nurture you, and give you all our best because you deserve nothing less.

The last two months have been a bit tough for us. Watching you run temperature each time any of your milk teeth want to come out, some of the time while you cry in discomfort and sometimes have trouble sleeping is one of the hardest things Daddy and I had to endure in a while. It hurts when we cannot take away your pain and all we can do is to be here for you, comfort you, and take solace in knowing that it is for the best. It is part of the journey and it is a sign of your growth and development.

Today as we celebrate Children's Day in Nigeria, I reflect on my parental journey and shower good wishes to my son and all the Nigerian children.

I'm taking a moment to remind us as parents to not get lost in our parental or life responsibilities but to always slow down a bit, and enjoy the beautiful moment as we nurture our little ones. It won't be long before they will be grown and all that we will hold on to will be the beautiful memories we created. Because that day is coming and it won't be long before they won't be needing us the same way again.

And what then, when that time comes and all we can remember are all the cramps life throws at us?

As parents, as we are chasing our dreams and securing the bags, and in all we do, we must never lose sight of what is important. Connecting emotionally, and being present for our little one should be among our top priorities as we must create a balance.
If we don't, all the precious moments when lost can not be given back.

And here is a song, You are the reason by Calum Scott

That explains what some of us are willing to go through just to fix our broken relationship with those who matter most to us.

And I'm like, how about we don't break those relationships In the first place? But then, these things happen sometimes, and we lose sight of what matters to us only to wish we had made a better choice in the end.

Don't take my word for it, Calum Scott is an amazing talent, everything about "You Are the Reason" is very enjoyable. His voice is beautiful and all the characters featured in the video are very relatable and cool to watch.

So without much talk, why not come along with your headset, and have fun watching one of my favorite songs of all time? Hehe.

Thank you so much for your time, have a lovely day.
