Imagine being in one of the biggest bands in history (Nirvana), one of the most promising drummers in the music industry, and perhaps a prominent figure in the Grunge genre. Suddenly, on April 5th, you turn on the television, and see that the leader of your band, your friend, and your companion in many situations has committed suicide. Evidently, the end of that road has come. You go from absolute glory to uncertainty, not knowing what to do or how to continue with what you love the most: making music. Besides, you've lost your friend, you have to live your life with that pain. If something like this had happened to any of us, we'd still be going to a therapist. And this happened to Dave Grohl and he ended up becoming an example of struggle and rock and roll.
Imaginen estar en una de las bandas más grandes de la historia (Nirvana), ser uno de los bateristas más prometedores de la industria de la música, y quizá una figura prominente dentro del Grunge como género. De repente, un 05 de abril, enciendes la televisión, y ves que el líder de tu banda, tu amigo, y compañeros en muchas situaciones se ha suicidado. Evidentemente, el fin de ese camino ha llegado. Pasas de la absoluta gloria a la incertidumbre, al no saber qué hacer ni cómo continuar con lo que más amas: hacer música.. Además, has perdido a tu amigo, tienes que vivir tu vida con ese dolor. Si nos hubiese sucedido algo así, a cualquiera de nosotros, aún seguiríamos yendo al terapeuta. Y esto le sucedió a Dave Grohl y terminó convirtiéndose en un ejemplo de lucha y rock and roll.

To the point that they have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, being one of the fastest bands to achieve this. But they have left milestones in music that are truly impressive. Entire albums that go over with majesty and talent the different stages of anger, grief, issues related to heartbreak, but above all, with a humour that made them really stand out from the rest in their videos. Proof of this are the videos of "Learn To Fly", "Breakout" (this one in particular being part of the soundtrack of the film Me, Irene and Myself) as well as songs that became viral and successful in multiple continents such as "Time Like These", or "Best of You". or "Best of You", among others.

Prueba de ello son los vídeos de "Learn To Fly", "Breakout" (Este en particular siendo parte de la banda sonora de la película Me, Irene and Myself) también temas que se volvieron virales y exitosos en múltiples continentes como "Time Like These" , o "Best of You", entre otros.
Reviewing the history of the Foo Fighters, we can find that the predominant factor is the struggle with stability and sound quality. Dave Grohl is an absolute sound perfectionist. The Foo are a band that I particularly struggle to classify. Because they initially carried on the Grunge/Post Grunge vibe from Seattle in 1994, but compared to the current work, much of those early days no longer exist within their more recent productions. It shows, in my opinion, the musical ductility that Dave has as a founding member and lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the band. In addition, the other members also have a shared history within Nirvana, as is the case with Pat Smear. They were joined by Taylor Hawkins after his brief but powerful stint with another notable 90's figure Alanis Morissette, which earned him an audition with the Foo Fighters and his induction.

Los Foo, son una banda que en lo particular me cuesta clasificar. Porque inicialmente continuaron con la onda Grunge/Post Grunge de Seattle en 1994, pero comparado con los trabajos actuales, mucho de esos primeros días, ya no existen dentro de sus producciones más recientes. Muestra, a mí modo de ver, la ductilidad musical que tiene Dave, como miembro fundador y líder vocalista y guitarrista rítmico de la banda. The story of this drummer and former member of the band has been in the news in recent months, after his death in Bogotá, before the concert they were to play in that country as part of their Latin American tour. They had just played several shows in Argentina, and it was there that Hawkins met his death, having abused multiple drugs, and having had highs and lows with substances throughout his life. Another recurring theme in the life of this band is the constant instability they have had to endure. And I don't mean that they are messy or irresponsible, no; in fact, my point is directed towards the misfortunes. In one lifetime, Dave Grohl has had to endure the death of two friends, two band members, over the same issue: drugs.
I'm a fan of stories of strength and creative release. In this case, I have no better example than the Foo Fighters. Of course, you, the readers of this post, may find other examples as well, but I don't think I detract from this band. On the other hand, the rock and roll they have created has been extremely good, to the point of getting Grammys for their albums, they have compiled multiple number ones in the most important music charts on the planet. And if that wasn't enough, wherever they have gone on the planet they have found the appreciation, reciprocity and admiration of billions of fans who return that affection with every song, with every chorus, with every verse and guitar riff.
La historia de este baterista y ex miembro de la banda, ha sido noticia en los últimos meses, después de su fallecimiento en Bogotá, antes del recital que iban a ofrecer en ese país, en el marco de su gira por Latinoamérica. Venían de ofrecer varios shows en la Argentina, y allí fue donde Hawkins halló la muerte al abusar de múltiples drogas, y de haber tenido altas y bajas con las sustancias durante toda su vida. Otro tema recurrente en la vida de esta banda es la constante inestabilidad que han tenido que soportar. Y no me refiero a que sean desordenados o irresponsables, no; de hecho, mi argumento va dirigido hacia las desgracias. En una misma vida, Dave Grohl ha tenido que soportar la muerte de dos amigos, dos miembros de la banda, por el mismo tema: las drogas.
Yo soy un admirador de las historias de fortaleza y de liberación creativa. En este caso, no tengo un mejor ejemplo que el de Foo Fighters. Evidentemente, puede que ustedes, los que leen este post, también hallen otros ejemplos, pero no creo que le resten méritos a esta banda. Por otro lado, el rock and roll que han creado ha sido extremadamente bueno, al punto de obtener Grammys por su álbumes, han recopilado múltiples números uno en la listas musicales más importante del planeta. Y por si fuera poco, donde sea que han ido por el planeta han encontrado el aprecio, la reciprocidad y la admiración de miles de millones de fans que devuelven ese cariño con cada tema, con cada coro, con cada estrofa y riff de guitarra.
They formed in Seattle, after Nirvana, and it seems that the story has come to an end? But I'm one of those who are inclined to see the "glass half full", rather than fatalism. If this band has taught us anything, it is the value of perseverance, and I am convinced that in due time, we will see a new Foo Fighters album and we will see how to rise from the ashes and turn tragedy and misfortune into something good and positive. Not just on an artistic level, but with musical value. Besides, as Gene Simmons (bassist and member of Kiss) once said "The last great rock band is the Foo Fighters, and they'll stay that way as long as they want to be". I'm not as fundamentalist as good old Simmons, but I do think they are a transcendent and important band.
Se formaron en Seattle, después de Nirvana, y parece que la historia ha llegado a su fin... Pero soy de los que se inclinan por ver el "vaso medio lleno", en lugar del fatalismo. Si algo nos ha enseñado esta banda es el valor de la perseverancia, y soy un convencido de que con el debido tiempo, veremos un nuevo álbum de Foo Fighters y veremos cómo resurgir de las cenizas y volver la tragedia y la desgracia en algo bueno y positivo. No solo a nivel artístico, sino con valor musical. Además, como dijo una vez Gene Simmons (bajista y miembro de Kiss) "La última gran banda de rock son los Foo Fighters, y seguirán siéndolo hasta que ellos quieran". No soy tan fundamentalista como el bueno de Simmons, pero sí creo que son una banda trascendente e importante.
