Match types in a WOOGame Show: How to strategize for a win.

Hello, everyone! Today, I want us to explore the various match types in the WOO Game and what constitutes a win. As I mentioned before, the WOO game is a strategy game. Therefore, there is a need for us to understand the gameplay to know how to strategize efficiently.

Every match will be hosted in a city (yours or on someone else's WOO land), and depending on the prize pool for that city, based on the ratings of the city—population, fanbase, and wealth—the amount of $WOO tokens to be earned will be determined. A percentage of the earned $WOO tokens will go to:

  • The player who won
  • The owner of the city or WOO land where the match was hosted
  • The retired wrestlers who have partnered with the WOO Game.

Now, for every show in the game, there are four different matches set to take place:

  • Undercard Match 1: Men
  • Undercard Match 2: Women
  • Undercard Match 3: Tag Team
  • Main Event

The main event can be either a men's, women's, or tag match, and this is selected randomly. You must choose your preferred wrestlers for each of these matches and click submit to run the show.

Now, here is a factor to consider: Cost. Cost is the budget for a show that every player must work within. For those familiar with Splinterlands, cost is equivalent to mana in Splinterlands. Each NFT wrestler you own has a cost factor, and every show you host will have its total cost limit, which both you and your opponent must work within.

This means that the total number of wrestlers you submit for each of the match types in total must not exceed the budget for that show. Some shows have lower budgets to the point that you may have to leave some matches vacant because it would not be possible to fill them all. This is where strategy really comes into play. Any match you leave vacant automatically results in a loss for that match.

Now, for every match you win, a victory point is awarded to you. Each undercard match scores you 1 victory point, and the main event would score you 2 victory points, making a total of 5 victory points. To win a match, you must score a higher number of victory points than your opponent. If, at the end, both players have the same number of victory points (which is highly likely in an instance where both didn't submit for one undercard match and one won the main event while the other won the two undercard matches), then it becomes a tie.

I will speak more on strategies for winning in my next post, but one that I have used all the time since I started playing is always to focus your best wrestlers on the main event and one undercard match since, upon winning, it would always score you 3 victory points.

Although there are effective strategies to win in the WOO Game, the most reasonable one is to have a well-leveled card, as it would give you the upper hand in every match. Sometimes, leveling up cards can even reduce the cost attribute of the wrestler and increase their damage, speed, and health. So, a well-leveled card will secure victory in many instances.
