New information has been released about WWE and CM Punk moving forward with working together.
The latest news HIGHLY suggest that WWE is not interested with brining in Punk as of right now. Via Dave Meltzer on his wrestling podcast, Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave delivered the news from a point of view that sources had greatly exaggerated the WWE’s interest with bringing Punk back right now.
Meltzer alluded to Vince McMahon, Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, and others making the decision based on thinking that all of the negatives that have come with CM Punk outweigh his positives (of bringing attention and selling out shows).
Fightful, a reliable wrestling and combat sport website, mentioned that there weren’t any conversations about Punk returning to the WWE at all despite WWE commentators referencing Punk’s finishing move
And lastly a source from CM Punk’s circle also mentioned that there wasn’t any future communication with WWE and Punk due to how the WWE is currently building their roster, but that doesn’t necessary mean that it won’t EVER happen.
I think it would be a possibility after the first year of TKO showing positive results with Vince not totally in control of creative. If Triple H can continue to deliver great storylines and keep morality up, there maybe a way to have 1 segment allowing Punk to come in, but as of now WWE has to focus on building up the talent they have and developing the new wrestlers in NXT. They have been struggling to find the next big 5 and have forced their fans to watch the same repetitive match ups for the last 5-8 years because of this.
