Wind of Change
Wind of Change is a song by the renowned German hard rock band Scorpions, published and released in 1990, which describes the atmosphere in Moscow after the fall of the Berlin Wall and all the events that led to the disintegration of the Soviet Union.
Recent times in Venezuela have been extremely difficult, particularly the last few weeks, and even more so, after last Sunday, July 28, when the presidential elections were held.
I am not used to write about politics in my blog, where the content I generally share is of a photographic nature, an activity that I like and enjoy enormously; however, in view of the events we are living since Sunday, I cannot remain indifferent and remain silent, even though many communities and users in this ecosystem consider it uncomfortable and "politically incorrect" to write about politics.
However, my only intention is to show images of faith, hope, optimism, and why not, of joy in the faces of the hundreds, thousands or millions of Venezuelans that today we find ourselves in the streets defending our right to live in peace and freedom.
Wind of Change (Viento de Cambio) es una canción de la reconocida banda alemana de hard rock, Scorpions, publicada y lanzada al mercado en 1990, que describe el ambiente que se vivía en Moscú, luego de la caída del muro de Berlín y de todos los acontecimientos que condujeron a la desintegración de la Unión Soviética.
Los últimos tiempos en Venezuela han sido sumamente difíciles, particularmente las últimas semanas, y más aún, luego del pasado Domingo 28 de Julio, fecha en la que se realizaron las elecciones presidenciales.
No acostumbro a escribir de política en mi blog, donde el contenido que generalmente comparto es de tipo fotográfico, actividad que me gusta y disfruto enormemente; sin embargo, ante los acontecimientos que estamos viviendo desde el Domingo, no puedo permanecer indiferente y quedarme callado, aún cuando muchas comunidades y usuarios en este ecosistema consideran incómodo y "políticamente incorrecto" escribir de política.
Sin embargo, mi única intención es mostrar imágenes de fe, esperanza, optimismo, y porqué no, de alegría en los rostros de los cientos, miles o millones de venezolanos que hoy en día nos encontramos en la calle defendiendo nuestro derecho a vivir en paz y libertad.
In past decades, Venezuela received hundreds of thousands or millions of immigrants from all over the world, who sought in our country the opportunities that war or violence denied them in their own places of origin.
Thus, Spaniards, Portuguese, Italians, Poles, Germans, along with Chinese, Lebanese, Syrians, and later, Argentines, Colombians, Peruvians, and other nationalities, put down roots in this land and formed homes, turning this nation into a great mix of cultures and traditions.
This morning I attended a peaceful rally that took place in the city, where thousands of people gathered to protest the not very credible results announced by the highest electoral body, ignoring the will expressed in the polling stations by the majority of Venezuelans last Sunday.
People of all ages, social conditions and religious beliefs were present in the activity, united in the search for truth and in the defense of our values, without falling into provocation or sterile violence.
It is important to clarify that similar acts also took place in the main cities of the country, although unfortunately there have also been disturbances and scenes of violence by the repressive forces of the regime that are going around the world through social networks.
Venezuela recibió en décadas pasadas centenares de miles o millones de inmigrantes provenientes de todas partes del mundo, que buscaban en nuestro país las oportunidades que la guerra o la violencia les negaba en sus propios lugares de origen.
Es así que españoles, portugueses, italianos, polacos, alemanes, junto a chinos, libaneses, sirios, y posteriormente, argentinos, colombianos, peruanos, y de otras nacionalidades, echaron raíces en esta tierra y formaron hogares, convirtiendo esta nación en una gran mezcla de culturas y tradiciones.
Esta mañana asistí a una concentración pacífica que tuvo lugar en la ciudad, donde miles de personas nos congregamos para protestar por los resultados pocos creíbles que anunció el máximo ente comicial, desconociendo la voluntad expresada en los centros electorales por la mayoría de los venezolanos el pasado Domingo.
En la actividad estuvieron presentes personas de todas las edades, condiciones sociales y creencias religiosas, unidos en la búsqueda de la verdad y en la defensa de nuestros valores, sin caer en la provocación o la violencia estéril.
Es importante aclarar que en las principales ciudades del país también se realizaron actos similares, aunque lamentablemente también se han presentado distubios y escenas de violencia por parte de las fuerzas represoras del régimen que están dando la vuelta al mundo a través de las redes sociales.
