After a long time, I got a good quality Indian original from Netflix. BulBul was close but this film has somehow managed to reach my expectation.
For fans of Murder Mystery, the night should be an experience full of loneliness, because the whodunnit formula has been properly applied here. The head of the big family was killed on the wedding night. After the festival, Nawaz got the news and saw that everyone in the family was suspicious. But there is no sign of mourn for the dead. Radhika Apte is waiting as his wife who is now the big partner of the property. But at the first sight, Nawaz seems to have seen her somewhere before.
In the beginning, Nawaz's back story is shown, where Nawaz's mother Ila Arun is looking for a bride for her black son by showing everyone a picture of the boy, and says that his skin colour may be black but not his heart. Nawaz does not like this nature of his mother. He also has a choice of his own and he wants a decent and mature girl as his wife.

This movie will also give a different taste to the fans of Nawazuddin Siddiqui because there ain't any slangs and lame dialogues. Both the character and acting of Nawaz was remarkable. I saw a good solo movie with Nawaz after a long time. Before that, his movies were always ensemble cast. In this movie, we saw the murder mystery revelation through his eyes and suspected many.
Tumbbad's cinematographer Pankaj Kumar captured the night scenes with special care, he has also worked in Haider, Talvar before.I liked the 1st scene of the movie very much, the editing is great. Hani Trehan was for a long time the casting director in films like Vishal Bharadwaj, Abhishek Chavez. So the cast of this movie was a gem. Swetha Tripathi, Shivani Raghuvansi, Thimanshu Dhulia, Padmavati Rao, Aditya Srivastava, Swananda Kirkire, Ila Arun!
However, the stars of the film are Nawaz and Radhika. This time the two stars of Sacred Games acted together and performance was overwhelming.
Radhika's character is the most complex. As you can see, Radhika proved once again that she can do well in acting. But ... it would have
been better if there was someone more beautiful in this character.
Its not just a crime mystery, but the torture of women in a patriarchal society, the big mystery of the depths of the big house all are blended perfectly which was in Bulbbul too. At first, I wasn't much into this film but I was 80% engaged because of the combination of the two, with everyone's great performance, proper presentation of the background. A separate narrative continues outside the murder case, where the engagement goes away a bit.

There is a train, it takes the story from one place to another, the genre of the movie also changes a bit, there are some problems in the screenplay Which would have been resolved if more experienced director directed.So as the fatigue comes to go to the climax, the urge to know the solution to the original mystery diminishes. Maybe that's what the director wanted, not to ruin the original journey for the sake of a twist. He also wanted to tell the story of the characters with Murder Mystery. So many will not like the end. Since we are accustomed to seeing a pattern, the problem is to accept something new.
Personally, I am quite satisfied with Raat Akeli Hai, though I don’t know the reason behind the name. Nawaz's complex Yadav character has been made so beautifully that more films can easily be made about him.
