December 4 ,2023 is the time when I was asked by our teacher to lead in creating a costume for our section representative for his cosplay with a theme of God and Goddesses in our English fest, since I'm into arts and crafts I helped our classmate to create his costume. The character that is assigned to him was the God of fire and forge Hephaestus.

Our representative, God of fire Hephaestus won a title of a 3RD RUNNER-UP COSPLAYER, with a minor awards of BEST INTERPRETATION OF CHARACTER and BEST DRESSED GOD✨.

We started on creating the costume in Thursday, December 6, the day before the event. Yes! We only did the costume for a day but because of the cooperation and assistance of our teacher, parent, and some of my classmates we finished the attire of our representative.

This is my reference in creating the costume of Hephaestus.

CREATING THE COSTUME

The materials that we used in the costume was plastic spoon, foil(gold and red), cartoon, folder, stick, mask, ribbon, golden dust, fabric (white and red), black metal cap, glue sticks, double sided tape, stapler, paint(yellow and black).

Since we already have a red skirt and white fabric the only thing that we will create is the accessories in his hips, waist, head and his props.

To create the accessory in his hips and waist we layered the plastic spoon (4 spoons horizontally and 7 spoons in vertical) to make it look like a scale using a glue gun, and we taped it in the back to secure that it will not immediately fall apart. We put a cutted folder with a shape of a leaves at the upper part of the layered spoon to cover it. After that we finished layering the spoons we sprayed it with a yellow color spray and put some golden dust to give shimmer and glitter to the accessory.

In this part is a lion but since we have time to chase, we modified it, instead of a lion we made it as a human head😆. Using the mask, we designed it with a red fabric glued in the upper part of the nose of the mask. A ribbon, staple at the top of the head and a leaf cut folder glued in the forehead.

To put it all together, the mask and the layered spoon, I made a belt using a folder then covered it with a box shape fabric. Then i glued the layered spoon using a glue gun then put a ribbon on top of it for design. In the center of it is where I stapled the mask. And charran✨ the result.

The next thing that we did was his props and his crown. To create his big hammer (I dont have a hammer only picture, but you can see it at the first and last picture in this blog💙)

we used the cartoon box, we made a hole at the center of it to insert the stick, to secure that the stick wont move, I glued it and put some cartoon inside. And after that we sprayed a black spray all over and put some gold and red foil at the top of the box and white fabric at the handle. For the crown I used a folder and put some ribbon at the top and then designed it.

THE NEXT DAY

the day of the event, I put it all together, using some pins to secure the accessories in the waist so it will not fall. I also added some golden foil in his wrist and legs.
And This is the final result.
