The goal is to demonstrate that this is a process that can be done at home with a few tools. In my house, this maintenance must be constant since in the area there is a lot of dust or residue that comes from the surrounding industries. It is also advisable to perform maintenance in an open area and not use strong or harmful cleaning liquids, but being in an enclosed space, I placed the air near the drain. Now let's see the process.

Materials.

  • Screwdriver, hose/hydrojet, protection bags.

After lowering the window air conditioner, all the screws must be removed.

The second step is to remove the front part and protective box. The front part is attached to the buttons or controllers; for this reason, they must be removed, so we will have more comfort to do the job.

When all the parts have been removed, we must cover the electrical parts, there are resistant protective bags, but in this case I used common bags and adjusted them with adhesive tape, this way we avoid that the water reaches the electrical parts.

To wash it, I used a hose connected to a water pump, so the water would come out under pressure, and we could clean all parts of the air conditioner.

Finally, clean the other parts of the air conditioner, for this, we must let dry the air conditioner and protective parts for several hours, depending on the type and size of air conditioner. In this case, as it is a small air conditioner, I let it dry for 2 hours.

Now we can assemble it and put it back in the window, after several minutes of adjusting it and placing it in the right place, we can connect it and proceed to turn it on. Undoubtedly, this process takes time and must be done carefully, but the procedure is simple; we can do it from home and with few tools, without the need to call a technician. The end result was satisfactory, as it improved the air flow and temperature.
