Hi everyone, it's been a while since my last published blog and I have a lot of unforgettable stories to tell you that happened in the past days and during the holiday season. I'm thrilled to construct these stories and share them with you.
Let me start by sharing my last onboarding orientation in 2023. On December 17 last year, It's a month already since we conducted a Hive Orientation together with @jeannmazing in Cebu City Philippines.
Planning Stage
It was a last-minute planning of the year to hold this Hive Orientation. It was a sudden request by one of my onboarded @jeannmazing. She told me that she invited her college classmates and another cousin to learn about the Hive platform and she asked if we could conduct an orientation in Cebu City before the year's end.
Since it's December theirs a lot of activities at work, so I double-checked my calendars and found a vacant day to conduct this orientation, thank God we found a date and decided to hold this on December 17 Sunday morning when everyone on the invite can attend. I also ask @ybanezkim26 and @indayclara If they are free for this orientation. Sadly their calendar was full already to attend.
I was hesitant to do this cause I'm used to conducting an orientation where there are @indayclara and @ybanezkim26 around. It's a bit challenging for me to hold a Hive Orientation alone but I still make it happen and challenge myself for this event.
The Location
One challenge actually why we seldom held a Hive Orientation in Cebu City is the location. Most of our orientation previous was in the province where we can utilize a classroom for this event and here in Cebu City we don't have a connection yet that has a bigger space that lets us conduct the orientation.
So, for this event, I first look for a place. I contacted some coffee shops and some workstations if they could accommodate us on the said date. Thankfully WorkPlace Cafe provides us with a great location. They have a lot of branches in Cebu but only one area in Banawa Cebu that can accommodate more than 10.
This Cafe is not just a coffee shop. it is also a co-working space where you can study, review, and work while sipping your coffee. They also have a meeting room if you are looking for a place to hold your group meetings and orientation, they have enough space, a projector for your presentation, an air-conditioned room, and a complimentary coffee for everyone. This WorkPlace Cafe in Banawa is cozy and vibrant. They have variant flavors of coffee that you may like they also have some sweets like chocolate cakes and cookies. you can refer to the picture below for the price.
When we arrived at the area they only had a few guests. I directly approached the in charge at the counter and ask the meeting room that I had reserved for that day. after confirming our reservation slot, we went upstairs to the second floor where the meeting room is located.
The Orientation
After entering the room I quickly set up my things, connected with the projector, and prepared my presentation about the Hive platform. While waiting for others to come, I start the orientation by Introducing ourselves and telling everyone our habits in life and interests.
I also give some overview of the platform, give them what should they expect, and the reason why we conducted this @ocd Hive Onboarding Program. For everyone's information by the way this Orientation is affiliated with the @ocd team through our @hiveph Community.
- About Hive
I started the formal orientation by presenting the Hive promotional video by @lordbutterfly and discussing with everyone what Hive blockchain, web 3, and what this platform is all about. I also differentiate it from the other social media platforms they use nowadays like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and others.
Then I discuss the Hive ecosystem and other front ends that they may explore soon when they start their journey in the platform.
- About PeakD
On this part, I impromptu asked @jeannmazing if she could discuss the @peakd and navigate everyone to its function (sorry for that Je-ann 😅). What to see inside PeakD and the tools to use to create a blog inside Hive. She also shares what communities and blog samples look like when they create one.
I was proud of this time with @jeannmazing, I know she didn't prepare to become a speaker on this orientation but she nailed it. She delivered and shared what to share about PeakD. Thank you for accepting the challenge.
- Reward System and Wallet
We also tackle the reward system of their blog and how their blog is rewarded. I also added some discussion on the wallet area of PeakD so they can understand what they see on their wallet.
- Tips, Do's and Dont's
I share some tips with them to have a smooth and enjoyable blogging content creation in Hive. Like following the Do's and Don'ts on this platform. Never attempt to plagiarize and copy content. Hoping they will follow it genuinely.
We ended the orientation with a question-and-answer portion. I'm really happy about their eagerness to learn the platform and start soon. I'm hoping I answer all the queries they have on this part of the event. Of course, photo opt. after the orientation is required.
In this batch, we have ten interested individuals who give their time and effort to attend the orientation to learn the platform. And as of now, we have 70% started their journey on the platform. If miss out on their arrival you can visit their Intro blogs below to know them more.
