OLANGGO DONATION DRIVE POST-ODETTE (TRANSPARENCY REPORT)

Hello hivers!

First of all, I want to say my biggest THANK YOU to everyone who upvoted my post regarding the typhoon that affected us here in Cebu. This post is a transparency report as to where the funds were donated. As I said in the previous post, 50% of the rewards went to @ybanezkim26 to help out the people in his area while 50% of the rewards were supposed to be for Lapu-Lapu residents from where I live. I was searching for donation drives however most of what I saw were dedicated for the residents of Olanggo Island which is a small island and a 20 minute boat ride from the port in Lapu-Lapu. From the pictures that I saw, they were badly hit by the typhoon and their houses were totally damaged. I saw in Kim’s transparency report that he still has some funds left to donate. I thought it would be nice if we could gather the rewards and donate it to Olanggo residents instead. We got a total of PHP21,521.7 or 420 USD. When we met to discuss about this, we decided that the 6,321.70 would go to @proteancreator for Bohol residents who still need help as well, and the rest (PHP 15,200) would be for Olanggo.

Here’s the breakdown and conversion of the rewards on my post which was 50% of the total rewards and given to @proteancreator for Bohol residents:

I coordinated with the organizer of “Tabang para sa Isla” (which means “Help for the Island” ) donation drive for Olanggo and when everything was set, @ybanezkim26 sent them the donation funds he gathered.

Here’s the receipt of the transaction:

The target was to give relief goods to atleast 1,000 residents in 8 different “sitio” or small towns in the island but more donations were gathered and we were able to give extra bags of relief goods.

We went to Olanggo Island to hand out the goods last January 16, Sunday. It was raining in the morning around 7am and I was worried it will be cancelled since we still have to ride a boat but good thing the sun came out when we waited a bit! It also marks exactly one month when the typhoon happend. Here are some of our pictures.

The residents were so thankful for the relief goods that they received which was composed of rice, canned goods and noodles. They were grateful that they can have food secured at their table and not worry about it even just for a day while trying to rebuild their homes.

It has been a month but they still have no electricity, no water and limited mobile signal. The tricycle driver even said that it will probably take 5 months before they can have the power back. Passing by the houses it seems like the typhoon just happened recently. Most of it were not repaired yet and broken trees and bent electric poles are still everywhere. I also saw this written on the road which was heartbreaking.

Thank you again to those who reached out, reblogged and supported this drive. We will continue to be your instruments to help other people.
